Region free Blu-ray players from reputable brands are going to a tough find for a decent price. From what i read the Insignia (in-house Best Buy brand) can be made region free and cost about less than $100.

From the top tier brands, it will be tough getting them region free without adding a hardware mod. I read the Blu-ray association doesn't allow companies to have region free playback by number sequence on the remote. Doing so could have their license to produce Blu-ray players revoked.

I got the Oppo BDP-93 with a region hardware kit that attaches to the USB in the back and works perfectly. I got Royal Rumble 2009 Blu-ray from Amazon UK and played perfectly on that player. It plays every DVD as well. The cost is $400, but i think is worth every penny. They make one of the best Blu-ray players in the market today.

Looking forward to the Clash/Champions set hope this doesn't suck. I really hope they don't screw it up though I am not holding my breath! I got a gut feeling the set will be a bunch of already on other DVD set matches. I hope they don't have some 80 min documentary with Sheamus and Triple H giving each other verbal hand jobs. Yes I am being sarcastic but leave it to Vinnie Mac to screw it up. Sorry but I have lost faith in WWE putting out decent products. While I do feel the WCW Nitro set was a step in the right direction. I have been let down time and time again with the use of AWA/NWA/WCW/WCCW footage. While I no longer watch wrestling these days I still love/miss the old promotions. Granted I was a baby at the time but I really love old school wrestling. Alright here is my most wanted matches though I'm not holding my breath!

clash 3
US championship: Sting vs. Barry Windham (ch)

clash 4
World Champ Ric Flair & US Champ Barry Windham vs. The Midnight Express

clash 6
Mike Rotunda & Steve Williams vs. the Road warriors

clash 7
Hayes & Garvin vs. Midnight Express

clash 9
US championship: Lex Luger (ch) vs. Brian Pillman

clash X
Steiner Brothers (ch) vs. Doom

clash 12
Southern Boys vs. Freebirds

clash 15
Lex Luger (US ch.) vs. The Great Muta

I wonder what nodeerforamonth thinks of this..........?

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

So my BDs from the UK arrived today, Summerslam to Vengeance 2011. Something interesting I noticed was the running time. The back cover lists the REAL running time, which is like 4 hours & 15 mins for most sets. Here in the US, the running time says "approx. 9 hours" which is total bull every time. Wish they'd fix that.

Darn! - I should have pre-order the Rock Blu-Ray - would not only got the $3.00 refund but also got free shipping
since my order (Rock Blu-Ray and Ric Flair-Definiate Collection DVD) at the time would be over $25.00.
Oh well, I wounded up getting free shipping anyway as a friend wanted the Rock Blu-Ray too.

Mark, just saw your post on there and you did a hell of a job on there and wishing and hoping that WWE will come to their senses and release this thing by the holidays this year. Great content that would be on such a release and a question...are you able to make something like that for TV shows as well? I'd like to have something created for Mork & Mindy Complete 4th and Final Season DVD cover art that could fit over a standard DVD casing.

Sorry, not really into doing TV shows. Is there nothing elsewhere you could try coverscc, they might have something.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

So, Punk sent this tweet out today about his DVD:

"Man. This DVD is going to be so great. #LWF #MAW #SDW #IWA #IWC #ROH #OVW #WWE"

https://twitter.com/#!/CMPunk/status/176632297280380929

Looks like we're gonna get some of Punk's indy stuff on here, or at the very least, him discussing all the places he's been.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

I wasn't a big enough WCW fan to say if there's any unreleased gems that are glaring omissions, but I only have 3 of the 24 matches already.

Clash dvd is going to be an easy day one purchase for me.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Somewhat disappointing list. Since I don't own either Ric Flair collection, it might be worth it to me to get the Flair/Sting matches from '88 and '94, in addition to the "I Quit" match and the match with Luger.

However, the one glaring omission to me is the match from August 1994 between Flair and Hulk Hogan. It was the first rematch from Bash at the Beach '94, their second televised match together, and the middle of the initial Flair/Hogan that included BATB and Halloween Havoc '94.

This was a great opportunity to finally get this one released, and since it's not there, for me I'm probably not going to pick this up.

(And yes, I'm a huge Hogan mark that whether or not a Hogan match is included dictates whether or not a buy a DVD/Blu-ray. Hell, one of the major reasons I bought the Best of King of the Ring was for Hogan/Angle, which was at a PPV too terrible to own.)

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Looks like the Flair/Hogan match from August 1994 WILL be available
on the (likely) FYE exclusive version---though that has not yet officially been
announced (see below)
DVD Content exclusive to the Silver Vision release and one store in America

NWA United States Tag Team Championship Match
The Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics
Clash of the Champions - March 27, 1988

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match
Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair
Clash of the Champions XXXIII - August 15, 1996

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

I thought so, too, but that's from August 1996. This was the first match between Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. I want the red-and-yellow from '94, coincidentally from the same month two years prior.

I'm definitely going for the FYE version of this DVD set with the extra matches, as I believe this would be the US store that will have them.

Dude I feel your pain and I'm 100% backing you up!

I'm happy for those of you who are content. So please don't take my comments the wrong way.
Anyway,

I'm grateful for the stuff already released on other sets. I just knew they would just skip over the first 10 Clashes. Then just re-release those Clash #1 matches among others. So that's it I'm officially done with WWE and they're products. It was a fun ride but I give up until something changes. Best wishes to all if you who continue your journey with WWE products.

On a final let me add thank you WWE for continuing to keep the bootleggers in business! This was your chance to create an awesome collection. Now the bootleggers will continue raking in the cash at your stupidity expense. Thank you Vince Mcturd and your Superstars for creating garbage products.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Ivan Koloff vs. Ricky Morton was a definite must for the Clash dvd was it now??

I am disappointed that Rhodes/Windham vs. Steamboat/Douglas from Nov. 92 didn't make the cut. Same with Blondes vs. Steamboat/Douglas from Jan. 93 Clash.

No Steamboat vs. Flair is kind of surprising too.

Midnight Express vs. Freebirds for the vacant NWA Tag Titles from the June 89 Clash should have been on this set.

I don't hate the match listings, just more surprised at what got over looked. I often wonder if the people who pick matches out for WWE dvds even have any history of watching any of these matches. My guess is they see a name that is well known and use that match.

Yes, you're all right. Let's make each set that's put out 10 exhaustive discs that most people won't pay for and stores won't carry.

Brilliant.

If they don't turn a profit on their DVDs, their not putting any out.
We've gotten a TON of stuff, and none of it's ever gonna be perfect.

They don't use any common sense at all. I'm so sick of WWE and they're tyrant business practices. There is no excuse for this absolutely no excuse.

I agree

I agree

I agree

However they completely skipped the first dozen Clashes! Yes there is a match here and repeat there but that's not the point. The point was I KNEW this was going to happen. My frustration stems from the fact that WWE is clueless and predictable.

I am grateful for the stuff we have gotten. By taking a shit on this set they just saved me $30+. Buying this is pointless to me as a consumer. Most WWE fans are clueless when it comes to old school wrestling. WWE fans are not loyal or hardcore when it comes to DVD releases.

People like myself are the ones who buy the Nitro sets. The Legends of Wrestling sets AWA, WCCW, all those DVD sets. The Ric Flair sets the Ricky Steamboat sets so on and so fourth. As a reward for buying they're products they give us this? Then WWE has the nerve to be upset when they're products do piss poor sales?

Do they really expect the WWE Circus fans to buy this? LOL I been to WWE shows there is hardly any wrestling fans there. Just a bunch of drunk parents with they're 10 kids LOL!. Anyway I have made my point and I hope somebody here understands where I am coming from.

Once again there is no excuse for this absolutely no excuse. I can't even began to imagine how retarded the cover is going to look like. Anyway blah blah blah thank you for reading sorry If I piss anyone off here.
