Interesting, maybe Silvervision have finally made them region free. Wonder if Summerslam 2009 is also region free.

Looks like the latter. I imported Summerslam 2011 from Amazon, it will ship later today or tomorrow. I`m going to test it out on my Blu-ray players. If it is a success, then getting the rest.

I`m probably end up getting the Oppo BDP-93 with the region free kit that attaches to the back of the player...i heard it`s one of the blu-ray players on the market and has great region free compatilities for DVDs and Blu-rays.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

SummerSlam 2011 works on both of my Sony players (my living room one is a standard, Region A player purchased from Walmart), so I do believe they are region free. I've got Night of Champions on its way to me to test that theory though.

I bought my copy of Royal Rumble 09 from Amazon, a couple weeks ago. That's the one that didn't play on any region locked players.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Royal Rumble and SummerSlam 09 Blu-ray's from the UK were definitely locked to Region B when I purchased them upon release back then. I tested them and it was one reason I decided to find a region free player. I can't imagine Silver Vision altered those two in future production, but the situation with the new ones looks promising.

had the same experience with the Blu Ray Best of the WWE 2011 Disc 2 (disc 1 played fine) not playing in my Sony BD350. When i put the disc in my Sony
BD300 (a much older model) it played fine. I have sent for an upgrade for my
BD350 from sony and hopefully the disc will play fine in it after i download it
(will let you know in a week or so when it arrives)

Someone on WWEDVDNews.com confirmed that Night of Champions Blu-ray is region free...looks like this will continue with the rest...this is great news for us outside Europe and definitely import these Blu-rays from Amazon uk.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Been watching the Greatest Superstars Of the 21st Century (hoping it's just "part 1", as there's 88 more years to go!) on blu-ray and they cut out the commentary! I can barely hear them! At first I thought it was an audio format issue, but there's only one audio track.

Anyone else have this problem? (then again considering how bad the commentators are (except JR), this may not be a problem)

Likely just a firmware issue. I bought my copy from Amazon.ca and Disc 2 played fine on all three of my Blu-ray players; have a 160GB PS3, Sony BDP-S580 and BDP-S380.

Only glitches i encountered on WWE Blu-rays (looks to be widespread) is DX: One Last Stand. During the Show/Jericho vs. DX vs. Taker/Cena from MSG, it has about 10 seconds of glitches in the audio & video, it just starts to speed up a lot for those 10 seconds.

since nobody answered ill ask again, how much is a good price for older out of print dvds such as summerslam 2002, cause stone cold said so, would it be worth buying more than 1 copy for cheaper prices less than 20$

The rarer the event the more it will go for. Since SummerSlam 2002 is a WWE event versus WWF (so no scratch logos) there should be a high number of copies in the marketplace. Doing a search at the Amazon Marketplace I found one used for $9.32 that is fulfilled by Amazon.

Best Buy also shows a listing for SummerSlam 2002 for $12.99 in the shrink wrap. The store also has Cause Stone Cold Said So for $5.99.

Here is a list of OOP WWF DVDs (according to WWEDVDNews):

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

thanks for the info but got 2 questions
-how much would u pay for those OOP dvds, i already have summerslam 2002 but if i find it for 10 bucks would it be worth it just to have a extra copy in shrink wrap, im not a hardcore collector but just curious what would a steal be on these
-can u give a list of ecw dvds, offical dvds that were released by old ecw, and maybe other rare OOp dvds

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Also in the UK, almost every major ECW ppv and supercard were on DVD released by Delta from 1995-2001. They're region 0 so they play everywhere, some great rare stuff. Surprisingly one of the events along with many others from 1994 they didn't release was Night the Line was Crossed and is only available from RF Video.

I wish Pioneer released some 2000 events like Hardcore Heaven, Heatwave, Anarchy Rulz, and November to Remember.

Of course RF Video has almost every ECW event and are slowly releasing them along with the Hardcore TV sets.

Received Summerslam 2011 and Night of Champions 2011 Blu-rays from Amazon uk and can confirm both worked flawlessly on all three of my region A Blu-ray players, all connected via HDMI and quality and sound are amazing. No PAL to NTSC framerate issues, since HDMI fixes all that.

Very tempted to import Hell in a Cell.

Love that Silvervision have made these Blu-rays region free.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

Anyone else not like the trend that for wrestler retrospectives WWE is skimping on the second and third discs? I mean, come on, only 10 matches spread across two discs for The Epic Journey of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Granted, he had a number of DVD titles already, but I mean really.

It would be one thing if one of the matches was his Iron Man match against Triple H from Judgment Day 2000, but maybe that will eventually appear on Triple H's forthcoming release.

I agree completely - what is the point of having a disc with an hour free, I'm sure the production and manufacturing costs won't increase much by adding the other 2-3 hours.

They would be better off with two discs crammed full than 3 empty, plus if it were just 2 disc you wouldn't have to change the discs as much when your watching!

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII

It seems to me that since they started doing the 2 disc BDs with 4 hours on each (about an hour being exclusive content) that the 3 disc DVD sets have dropped down to 7 hours. So in order to have more on the BD's than the DVD's the DVD's suffer as a result.

No offense but DVDs don't suffer, it's your choice you want to stick to DVD, not WWE's problem...Blu-ray is the way to go, movie studios hardly give DVDs any worthy extras and load up the Blu-ray versions.

Seems like North America find it hard to adjust to change, especially in technology compared to Europe and Asia.

Blu-ray players are so cheap these days, they don't cost $500-$600 anymore you can get decent one for less than $100, and they play your DVDs too, so no big deal.

WWE has to find ways of enticing sales for Blu-rays for people paying premium...having same content for both versions won't do that which is why they focus on giving exclusive content.

People were complaining the same situation with VHS and DVD...crying on how DVD always has more extras than VHS, and so on.
