Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
I have not really been into WWF/WWE since the 80’s when i was a kid watching wrestlemania and Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Unfortunately other than a couple main stars. I have no clue who’s big or whatnot spanning from 1995 til now. So I am intrigued to seek out the best dvds that spans the last 20 years. I am more interested in those 3 discs set with a variety of different matches and not just a best of one person etc.
I already own the Wrestlemainia vol. 1 and Best of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Basically the 80’s since this is what I know.
Just a bit overwhelmed of the choices since there’s so many out there. What seems to be good are..
Summerslam anthologies
Best of Raw 15th anniversary
Smackdown 10 year anniversary
Best of Ladder Matches
Are these good to start with? Heard the best of raw and smackdown are basically edited matches, but good for a summary of the past decades? I am not looking to build a huge collection or anything. Just a casual fan looking to see what I missed out on.

I most likely stick to watching and being entertained by matches. It's fake but at least i know what i'm being fed.
However Piper was one of my favorite heels of the 80's. So i wouldn't mind checking his documentary out just for the Piper's Pit segments alone. And the History of Wrestlemania sounds intriguing.

The only problem i have with documentaries, is that i never know what to believe. Since WWE runs on fictional storylines with some hints of borderline truths of real life. It's hard for me to watch or even read an autobiographical book knowing that they can't spill alot of the truths. Of course this is a rule of thumb for alot of autobiographical in general. Just more, due so to nature of WWE environment.

I agree on both counts. Christian/Alberto was definitely one of the highlights of SD this year, and WWE would be smart to feature more "never been seen on DVD" matches, like stuff from WCW and RAW/SD from '03, on.

Even though I already have the match, I would like to see Owen vs Bret on Best Cage Matches which is the best cage match ever

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
The ones I care about most are:
Jericho vs. Batista from Tampa Raw 2008 for the Heavyweight title
RVD vs. Jericho from Raw 2003 for the IC title that was an immediate rematch from Jericho winning the belt
Shamrock vs. Mankind vs. The Rock - number one contenders match - In Your House: Breakdown
Jericho vs. Christian from RAW 2004
Bret Hart vs. Sid from RAW 1997 before Mania that had Austin & Sid interfere and ended with Hart in the ring bitching about McMahon and a huge brawl

If you like spending 20 minutes of watching people sloooooowly climb. It's been on 4 releases already, all of which are easily obtainable.

And why would someone want mostly WCW matches on this? If that was the idea, then why not just release a WCW cage matches DVD?

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
That's embarrassing I wont be able to watch it until Friday, was there alot of me on there?
And TehOH1, someone would probably want some WCW cage matches on that DVD becuase they are so rare (In decent quality). It doesn't make sense to buy it if it has mostly WWE PPV matches on there becuase I have them all.

Some of you guys are making such awesome picks for the cage match DVD that by the time they announce the actual match listing, I know I'm going to be disappointed.
