Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
Can anyone confirm if the TNA DVDs in the Cross The Line set are widescreen or not? What about Genesis 2010 for that matter?
TNA airs the PPVs now in HD, so the DVDs should be in 16:9 just like the original broadcast and just like WWE does on their PPV DVDs.

I know Genesis 2010 isn't in widescreen, so i assume the Cross the Line Vol. 3 isn't either.

None of TNA's post-HD broadcasting PPV DVDs have been in widescreen. Here are some pics of the Triple Threat Vol. 3 set, which I got for about $12 via the ROH sale, which is continuing UNTIL FRIDAY.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
WWE is currently working on a three-disc DVD set that will include all the Monday Night RAW episodes from 1993.
A “Best of the WWE Divas” box set is also being worked on. The Divas set will feature interviews, matches and photo shoots. The DVD will likely only feature current WWE Divas on the roster.
As previously noted here on WNZ, WWE is also planning a Randy Orton three-disc DVD set that will feature a documentary and matches, including stuff from Orton’s WWE developmental career. The Orton DVD should be released late 2010 or early 2011.
Other ideas being tossed around for future WWE DVD releases include a three-disc set on Big Show, a History of the US Title set and a Best of WCW Nitro set. WWE is also planning on releasing old DVD’s on Blu-ray such as the recent Edge and Rey Mysterio sets.

All I really look for in these recent 90s and WCW collections is stuff from Nitro. There's a lot of hidden gems featuring the biggest names in wrestling, and it would be awesome to see.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
Thanks for the pics JPeeples, looking forward to receiving this from ROHWrestling.om hopefully later this week.
As for Best of Nitro, that would be a pretty sweet set, they could add lots of nWo stuff from 96-97 which was basically revolved around them during those years.
Too bad no matches with Benoit will be on, especially the few from Best of 7 series he had with Booker T.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
They need a 3-disc comprehensive nWo dvd.
Also, I think they should do a series of Monday Night Wars 3-disc sets instead of this Best of Nitro deal. Have them do a set for every year with a mini-doc about that year and the best matches from Raw and Nitro.

I understand that not everyone collects all of the discs, but between this and Best PPV matches, I've been pretty disappointed with all fo the rereleases this year.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
sq86 thats a good idea, have a nwo dvd (not the crap that the "back in black" was) that covers the original black and white nwo, then do a monday night wars volume set
volume 1-1996
volume 2-1997
volume 3-1998
all the way to 2001, each a 3 disk set
and the elimation chamber must be blue ray, a average chamber match goes atleast 40-50 min, so they could only fit 9 chamber matches at most on a normal 3 disk set

They won't put stuff on Blu-ray just for the increased storage capacity any time soon, chuck. If it's not HD content, it's not happening.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
yea, it seems that older stuff won't look that good on Blu-ray. I think they started to use HD cameras around 2007 to test out in high def before officially converting in 2008. Anything earlier wouldn't look that great compared to the DVDs.
I don't think i see them re-releasing any of the Anthologies on Blu-ray for one. It would be too much work and money spent on restoring each 3-4 hour Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Royal Rumble Survivor Series, etc. They would probably just direct transfer from DVD to Blu-ray down the road with some touch up so it looks a little better than DVD.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
Keep in mind that the 2005 New Year's Revolution chamber included Chris Benoit, so it's very possible that one might not be included in the set.
Anybody know if Best Buy will be carrying the WM26 and Best of 2009-2010 Blu-rays on the day the DVDs are released like they did the Rumble, or are those releases unknown right now? I only ask because they aren't showing up at Best Buy's site, Walmart, Amazon, or any other site for a pre-order.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
The Elimination Chamber set will easily fit on 3 DVDs. The total time for all previous 11 EC matches, without entrances, is 5 hours and 55 minutes. That leaves almost a full DVD's worth of space to include segments/interviews in between the matches and even the entrances as well.
Keep in mind that the 2005 New Year's Revolution chamber included Chris Benoit, so it's very possible that one might not be included in the set.

The sole reason to put SD content on Blu discs is to take advantage of the increased capacity. However, the WWE stuff is just too niche a product for them to do it. If you don't see mainstream studios doing it for things like the Simpsons tv sets, which have a much larger consumer base, there's no way you'd see it done for things like this.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
i never said they would release the nitro set on blue ray, i said it would be "to sweet" if they did
and they do release old movies on blue ray, in fact every classic has or will be released on blue ray, and it does look a bit better
but i know wwe wont do it especially for 3 discs plus extras, it would take alot of effort, but it would be better IF they did, just look at old movies on blue ray

Second. You clearly don't have a clue how film and High Definition work. Older movies or "films" can actually be tranfered/converted into HD Quality. Movies have always been recorded on film (99% of the time) dating back to pretty much the beginning. Film is what can be actually down converted to HD on TV and Blu-ray. Material recorded on video tape can not be made to look any better (WWE, WCW and most TV programs overall). Period. Do a little research next time before you make yourself look so ignorant.
So yes old WWE or WCW footage won't look any better on Blu-ray as compared to DVD. And WWE will not release full Standard-def content on High-def Blu-ray Disc (BD is the abreviation).

sorry if dont know everything about technology, your mad because i spelled Blue-ray wrong, are u kidding me, who cares about little stuff like that
and if you wanted to correct me, ok fine, but adding silly immature comments along with it is childish
sexualpudding has a agenda for me, he waits until i make a very small mistake or someone disagrees with me and jumps on it and bashes me no matter the debate, very childlike
just wanted to point that out, this is a dvd talk forum, i dont want this turning into a childlike immature place to bash people, and if me or anyone else is wrong, just correct them without all the other garbage, thank you very much

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
I have no more agenda with you than I do anyone else on here, chuck. Why do you always make things personal? You have the thinnest skin I have ever seen.
I have corrected you or disagreed with you many times in the past, but that's because, well frankly, you say quite a few things that are just flat out wrong or ill-informed. It's not personal, so don't try and make it personal.
You also like to ask for people's opinion on things and then jump all over them when it differs from yours. There's no bashing or anything child like going on here, except perhaps on your end for always getting worked up over nothing.
A bit of advice: Unless you're 100% certain you know what you are talking about on a given subject, it's probably a wise idea to not act like some authority on it and be a blowhard to people when they call you out on your ignorance.

ya really adult like, come on man, man up and admit that was childish
