ANOTHER NEW WWE BLU-RAY RELEASE, RETAILER STRIKES EXCLUSIVE DEAL FOR WWE PRODUCT AND MORE
By Mike Johnson on 2010-04-14 10:23:56
The WWE's Best PPV matches 2009-2010 DVD will be released in both standard and blu-ray format.
It appears Best Buy
struck a deal to have the exclusive rights to WWE's Blu-Ray titles for several months before they are released across the board, which is a pretty smart move on the retailers part.
With the closing of so many Blockbuster
video outlets, those of you looking for that store's exclusive rental versions of WWE PPVs from several years back might find them at an agreeable price if you keep your eye out. Blockbuster had an exclusive agreement with former WWE DVD distributor Genius Products to provide the store with an exclusive version of each of their releases, pretty much amounting to an extra match or two from WWE TV on the DVDs that weren't on the nationally released versions.

Is the Royal Rumble BD release in May going to have the same stuff as the Best Buy exclusive?

UPDATE: I was on Amazon, and the details for Royal Rumble Blu-ray says 1 disc. So that 2nd disc looks like it was a Best Buy exclusive.

I think it will be the same. Best Buy just bought the rights to sell it earlier than everywhere else (besides Canada and UK). We got the same release as Best Buy back in March, so no doubt the May release will be the same.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
So the 2nd disc is exclusive to Best Buy in the US, and doesn't effect others like UK and Canada.
It's not even rare, this one seller on "greed-bay" charging $53 for it, people who want it can just import it from Amazon.ca.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
I noticed on Amazon, they updated the release for WM26 3 Disc DVD and the date is pushed to Aug. 3...that can't be right, the regular 2 disc is still being released May 4. The Blu-ray version listing is removed.

The Blu-ray removal doesn't surprised me. It seems WWE and Best Buy agree that all WWE BD releases will be exclusive to them for 3 months and then they'll get widespread release.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
The latest edition of WWE Magazine has an ad for the WM26 dvd and BR. Kmart will have a WM26/Greatest Superstars of WM 2-pack. The ad says that Best Buy is "the exclusive home for WWE on Blu-Ray" and says the 3 disc BR will be released on May 4.
In bigger news, here is the exact reply from the editiors of the magazine when asked about seasons of Raw on DVD:
"We think it would be awesome, and so does the big guy upstairs, which is why plans are in the works to release Raw's first year on DVD sometime soon. At last, Max Moon will be able to prove to viewers everywhere the he actually did exist!"
So I guess expect Raw seasons "sometime soon". Let the speculation begin.

The RAW seasons sound awesome, but I already see 3 problems:
1- lenth. How are they going to fit 50-54, one-two hours, episodes on the set?
2- WWF - They are going to blur the hell out of it.
3- Chris Benoit - Are they going to omit him in future RAW season releases?

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
My guess it will be like the RAW 2009 season. It will just be 3 discs with segments, matches and highlights.
It would way too many DVDs and the price tag will be too high, if it were complete full shows for the year.

Maybe the Raw seasons will replace any further Anthology sets and be released in that manner.

"The pinnacle for every sports entertainer is to appear on pay-per-view, and once their, they desire to steal the show-put on the best match. For the first time ever on home video, the WWE Universe can enjoy the best PPV matches in a one-year span in one home video collection. The stars of Raw, SmackDown, and ECW present the greatest bouts of the year, from longtime PPV standards WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble, as well as newly themed events, including Breaking Point, Hell in a Cell, Bragging Rights, TLC, and Elimination Chamber."
The Best PPV Matches set is a 2-Disc BD set and will contain "over 8 hours of action." Souce: PWInsider.com
Sounds great! Im excited that WWE is finally truly releasing more BD's. Best of PPV's 2009-10 should be pretty damn good if they put the right matches on there.
EDIT: Sorry, I don't know why the second image is so large.

ROHwrestling.com is having a 40% off sale this weekend. Everything on the site. A $92 order wound up setting me back $65 after shipping.

I might get TNA Cross the Line Vol. 3, with our Canadian dollar on par with the US, its actually a bit cheaper, plus i read it has been delayed in Canada til June (along with Beer Money/MCMG 2 pack).

Not a problem. I ordered the new TNA Cross the Line myself. I also grabbed the 3 newest ROH pre-orders so it'll be a while until it gets here. Good thing, it'll give me time to catch up a bit.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
what i find strange is on the WWEShop.com site it says the 2 disc includes the HOF ceremony, i thought it would just be the event itself like with WM23. I guess making it a "collector's edition" includes those extra matches from the inductees.
Or it could just be a misprint.

Why are they releasing this now when 2010 is not over yet? Do they not think any of the matches for the rest of the year are going to be any good?
Why did they call Wrestlemania 25 the "25th Anniversary" of Wrestlemania? This year's WM, Wrestlemania 26 was actually the "25th anniversary" (they didn't start at WM 0, they started at WM 1).
Who does their marketing? Are they completely mentally challenged?

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
Good to see them FINALLY going back and putting some content of the HoFers alongside the induction. They did that in '04 with the 2 disc set, and they really should have kept that going with at least one match per guy like they're doing now.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XIII
From F4Wonline:
--Here are some notes regarding the WrestleMania DVD and various different versions of releases, which comes out on 4/26. There will be a $24.99 version which will be Mania plus the Hall of Fame ceremony in its entirety. There will be an $18.50 version which will be Mania and the one hour Hall of Fame special that aired on the USA Network. There will be a regular Blu Ray of the PPV & Hall of Fame ceremony. And there will be a three disc Blu Ray for Best Buy that will include the 3/22 Raw and 3/26 Smackdown go-home shows. I believe some of the sets will also include the Shawn Michaels retirement speech on Raw. (thanks to Leon Peters)

The HBK farewell won't be on the set, the extras were already revealed and it's only the 26 man pre-WM battle royal, and old matches from the HOF inductees.

WWE hypes and markets Wrestlemania as the start and end of their year so this DVD will go from one Mania to the next. It will include most of 2009, that's why the description posted before in this forum said it would include events like Breaking Point and Hell in a Cell. Also on the DVD cover it clearly says 2009-2010, plus it shows Triple H in DX gear, Mysterio with the IC title, and Orton handcuffed to Cena, all of those things would be from PPV's in 2009. I would repost the picture bigger for you like you asked but I don't know how to do that on here.
