Finally!!!

Disney/Buena Vista has just announced 'Beauty and the Beast (Diamond Edition)' for Blu-ray on October 5, with a standard-definition release on November 23.

The release will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack, and although supplements haven't been revealed yet, Disney promises hours of behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, enhanced music tracks, immersive games, and much more!

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.99.

So if you just want the standard dvd you have to wait an extra month? I think I am going to just wait even longer and not buy it altogether. And before all you blu ray lovers tell me to get over it you can go fuck youselves.

I feel ya but I think disney does much better than other studios in terms of trying to cut out the dvd buyers and trying to force them into blu. You do get a dvd with the blu-ray and you also have the blu-ray for if or when you get a player and at least with disney usually the combo pack is much cheaper than the dvd anyway with a coupon.

I will probably get this assuming disney sticks with offering the usual coupon and who knows judging from previous releases this could end up free or cheaper than a $5.00 walmart bin dvd at some stores... some lucky few possibly getting paid to take it.

It's being released in Blu-ray/DVD and DVD/Blu-ray combo packs the first week, just like Snow White was.

Yes, but just like with Snow White, if you want the full special edition on DVD with the second DVD of bonus features, you have to wait seven more weeks....the initial release on October 5 will be two Blu-ray Discs and one DVD, no matter if you buy it in the BD-sized or DVD-sized case....

Hopefully this will have the workprint that they showed at previews, the extended edition with the new songs, and the theatrical edition like the special edition had.

Didn't the original DVD look like shit, due to compression issues from cramming all 3 versions on the same disc (even with the seamless branching)

I guess I don't really understand the hatred this brings out in some people. I love the BD/DVD combos. But even if you don't, you're still getting the DVD Special Edition, just later. So what? You're still getting it. You don't have it now, you didn't have it last month, you won't have it next month...what's 7 more weeks going to hurt? And if people who have Blu Ray get it first...who cares? It's not a race; you're buying DVD's for your own personal enjoyment.
