Loved this show when i caught it on Boomerang. This is the last of the Old School Scooby that needed to be released isn't it? I know they should release the rest of The New Scooby Doo Movies but I assume legal mumbo jumbo will stop that

I get confused when it comes to the Scrappy episodes because there are so many differently named series and some of the episodes are the same from other series so it gets confusing. But aside from the Scrappy episodes that's it I think. They still need to finish out the Scooby-Doo/Richie Rich hour, I assume there's more of that since it was called "Volume One".

And when I said this was my favorite series I spoke out of line, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo is my favorite, this is a close second. My favorite cartoon series and my favorite actor (Vincent Price) together?? How could I NOT love this??

Wow, I'm surprised they jumped right to this one, although I'm certainly not complaining! Too bad the artwork makes it look like it's for a newer show, but at least it has Shaggy's red shirt.

For the record, here is the Scooby that is NOT yet on DVD after this (note that all of the 1980s shows feature Scrappy):

As for The Richie Rich/Scooby Doo Show if there were only 21 episodes why didn't they just release the whole series instead of putting 8 episodes in one set?

I wouldn't be very surprised if they released all of Laff-a-lympics in volumes, and then released season sets or a complete series. That's what they did with What's New Scooby-Doo and A Pup Named Scooby-Doo (and they are doing the reverse with Scooby-Doo, Where Are You, first released in season sets and now being released in volumes)

Actually they released "best of" sets under titles like Spookiest Tales or Greatest Capers then released season sets then released volumes.

That's cause Scrappy sucks and everyone knows it! ;)

I find it odd that Vincent Price's character (Vincent Van Ghoul) isn't on the cover. He's one of the main characters along with that kid (whose name I can't remember)

This show is not old school, it's just an earlier example of when the show went from actualy creepy mysteries to silly real ghosts.

13 Ghosts was a great series. It feels completely like the older shows of that time period. Much better than the latest incarnation (Get a Clue, that's what the producers should have done when they saw the animation)

If you've watched Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, the real monsters aren't exactly "silly".

Silly is not the key part of my comment, it's the fact that they totally changed the premise and dynamic of the show, from the classic solve the mystery of the guy pretending to be a ghost etc - for scam/heist etc and went supernatural and it's been that way since.

No, it's not been that way since. Between the tv episodes and the DTV movies, they've been going back and forth between bad guys in masks and real monsters. With almost 300 episodes and 20 movies, you cannot keep doing the same old "bad guy in mask" plot all the time. By the time 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo came around, that plot device had already become tiresome. 13 Ghosts was exactly what the franchise needed.

The traditional mystery with a criminal behind a mask has been the minority type of story since then - by far.

Sure, change it up, but don't completely change the show and ruin it with real ghosts. It's not a mystery show when it becomes supernatural - it's just a supernatural story, a wannabe Ghostbusters (which, hmm, came out right before 13 Ghosts....)

The changed it to Ghostbusters. No sense of mystery, no effort to have a creepy atmosphere, only to copy Ghostbusters with Slime me ghosts etc.

I don't understand why you hate that so much. By the way A Pup Named Scooby Doo was all about a man in a mask. I've haven't seen a ton of it yet, but What's New Scooby-Doo seems to be mostly if not all a man in a mask. So basically 13 Ghosts and some of the movies were real, but it seems to be that most of the things since the mid 80s were still a man in a mask. Even the 2 live action movies were men in masks (sort with the case of the first one). If you don't like it, don't watch it. There are PLENTY of Scooby related shows and movies out there that satisfy your fancy.

All the animated DTV movies from 2002 to 2007 had no real monsters in them. What's New Scooby Doo was completely empty of real monsters{with only one episode where was even a remote possiblity that it was real}. Both WNSD and A Pup Named Scooby Doo were classic Scooby mystery solving. Same with Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get A Clue{though that strayed from mystery solving altogether}.



Sorry, I wouldn't call that a minority.

The only reason to watch 13 Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo is because of Vincent Price, definitely not Scrappy or that little kid.
