Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Kihachi Okamoto's Red Lion?
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Weird. The Animeigo disc is fairly recent (5 years) and more than adequate in quality.
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Some people are speculating that it could be "The Thin Red Line," since the picture is of a thin red lion.
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
ooooh - good call - that lion is lookin pretty slender!
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Someone get that lion a sandwich!
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
^ and a milkshake.
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Probably not because Warner released it years ago, but "The Red Badge Of Courage" by John Huston perhaps?

Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
A Thin Red Line Criterion BluRay would be very welcome!
This was also in the newsletter: OUT OF PRINT SALE UPDATE Regular shoppers at criterion.com may have noticed that Jean Cocteau’s Orphic Trilogy has been reclassified from back order to out of print. It’s true: we’ve officially sold the last of our beautiful white and silver box sets. But we want to reassure anyone who has placed a back order with us that your copies will be coming to you just as soon as they hit our warehouse. Response to the out of print announcement has been overwhelming, and there are quite a few back-ordered titles at the moment, but never fear—we will honor all orders placed through our site. In case you missed the announcement, click here for the list of soon-to-be unavailable titles. |

Like I said, I could see it. It's been heavily rumored that Criterion managed to get the rights to the other Malick films (not including The New World), and admittedly, the Fox disc could be very much improved upon...

Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
They could shock everyone and release the original Thin Red Line from 1964. The dvd for that is long out of print.
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Akage, aka "Red Lion". It's foreign and not Spanish so Criterion would like it.

Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
LOL @ "not spanish". It's funny because it's true!
|
Re: Criterion Newsletter - March 2010
Imagine if they released the directors cut of Thin Red Line. Malick's original cut that was upwards of 5 hours. With the extended cut of the New World being released last year, I wouldn't say this is completly far fetched.

Man I would love to see that cut. Criterion could do a fantastic multi-disc set for the extended cut of the film.

Does that mean we could see Badlands get the treatment too?
