Does anybody own this?

I remember renting it back in the 90s, and thinking it was about the shittiest thing I'd ever seen.

I have a 2-sided disc with Cybernator and Hyperspace. Haven't watched either of them, got it jut because $3.99 for 2 movies was an insane deal at the time. I have a bunch of other Simitar titles (the first "budget" video label to release on DVD, and I think also the first to go out of business) I got just because they were under 5 bucks, never thought I'd eventually be able to get real movies for that much or less later.

Well, I know I'm not the only one who has it. I'm guessing I'm the only one who here who has "The Truth About Beef Jerky," which I purchased from the director.
I know I'm the only one here who has the DVD of an event I put on "Hollywood Jenga." We made 50 copies, sold 5.

Yeah, I've owned it for like 4 years and have yet to watch it. I tried watching it and with the split screen stuff going on I couldn't get into it either. I still want to try and watch it but just have never felt like doing the whole split screen thing. Is it that way throughout the whole movie?

Posting the Day of the Triffids BBC series in this forum and expecting no one has it? That's not even trying.
I consider my Brit/Euro TV sci-fi collection to be pitiful, but even I've got that one, Edge of Darkness, Jekyll, Norliss Tapes, Quatermass Miniseries (sad to admit, but I don't have the 3 early series, just the Hammer movies), Threads, and a few others.

My first viewing of it was on A&E 18 years ago. Since then, I've never run into anyone else who has heard of it let alone seen it. I don't recall seeing any discussion on the forum about the release of the disc or the video itself. I'm happy to hear that there are others out there. Time to watch it again.

As for 'no one has this' stabs, pulling a few from my horror selection there's a slim chance on one or more of the following:
"The Asphyx" - the 1998 'All Day Entertainment' release
"Island of Terror" - Region 2 British 'Masters of Horror' release
"Embryo" - 'Passport Video' release (interested to know if the Miracle Pictures quality is any better)
"Gargoyles" - DVD of 1972 film
"Society/Spontaneous Combustion" - Anchor Bay 'Drive In' two pack

I just assumed this would be a forum where slightly off the path tastes wouldn't be so rare. That BBC series is considered a TV classic for anyone with a penchant for Brit style sci-fi (those that don't like slow, cerebral sci-fi often hated it). But then maybe I'm wrong, maybe I hang out too much on sites where such interest is more common and just pushed the assumption here.

Ah, but which *version* of "Asphyx"? The first, 'All Day Entertainment' edition is tough to find.
AFAIK there only was one version of "Gargoyles". Picked that one up on release day, that one qualified as a "scratch one from the hit list" score.
For "Island of Terror", the British release is I believe the most common. I almost picked up the French release as for a while it was the only DVD edition, but the substandard transfer and subtitle issues made me hold off. One of those rare cases that holding off was the right thing to do.
Off the top of my head, how about this one:
"Quatermass and the Pit/Quatermass 2" - the Anchor Bay 2 disk set. Has the "long" version of The Pit.
Looks like digging through the collection for more stumpers might be in order - but with a collection only in the 1500 range, its not exactly stocked full of rarities.

Also, I can't see any of the Hammer films mentioned above being all that 'obscure' as there are a ton of Hammer fans and most of them would own most (or at least a good amount) of the old Anchor Bay releases. The Quatermass titles have a large following so nothing rare there. I also think a good number of genre fans did get All Day's "THE ASPHYX" when it was first released (I sure did) way back when - as well as "GARGOYLES" and others. Don't underestimate horror fans - they know this stuff well (even titles some may feel are obscure) and many of the fans do own most of the good stuff.

I used to own the All Day Entertainment DVD of The Asphyx, and if you count imports I have Gargoyles on Jpn DVD along with Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark.
How about Rapid Dogs aka Kidnapped on Lucertola Media or The Frightened Woman on First Run Features? I traded for these a couple of years ago before the Anchor Bay DVD of RD/Kidnapped came out... d'oh!
These aren't my pics, just a point of reference:

Frightened Woman: http://www.amazon.com/Frightened-Wom...9402421&sr=8-1
