Re: What's The Latest DVD You Bought (Part VII)

Hi guys, new here and this looks like a fun forum.

Couple of days ago I got these from the Walmart bargain bin.

Killer Elite
Lawless
Machete Kills
M I B 3

I buy DVDs from pawn shops and bargain bins. So far I have 873 DVD movies plus TV series and concerts.

Re: What's The Latest DVD You Bought (Part VII)

August is my Birthday Month so I made first of four Purchases I'll be doing this month.

Today I relieved "The Big River" (That's http://amazon.com for those of you in Rio Linda! ) of these threesome:

1. Two Mill Creek Documentary Series:

Secrets of War - The Complete Series

True War Stories - The Complete Series

2. This Hanna-Barbera Series:

The Dukes

The second purchase will take place on my next Payday (August 14) and I'll get as many series $100.00 will purchase from "The Big River".

The third will be on August 19 (My Birthday) and I will use the money I get from relatives to relieve "The Big River" of a few movies.

The fourth (and final) purchase will take place on August 31, at this time I will spend $ 40.00-$50.00 to relieve "The Big River of a few movie serials (the forerunner of TV shows).

Reg, I have to disagree with your assertion that movie serials were the forerunners of TV shows, since serials were...serialized. Most, if not all, early TV shows were episodic in nature, making them more akin to either movie series (such as the Blondie, Thin Man, or Ma and Pa Kettle series of films), or in the case of anthology series such as The Loretta Young Show or Playhouse 90, more akin to stand-alone movies. In this respect, early TV shows were much closer in form to radio shows, being just radio shows with pictures.
