Godzilla(Toho) on DVD?
 

Whats the proper viewing order for all the Godzilla movies(including King Kong Escapes and the later day Mothra flicks)? Aren't there 2 Godzilla movies that never made it to Region 1 but are available (w/English audio) thru Region 3? What are those titles? Watching Godzilla 2000,Godzilla Tokyo SOS and Godzilla Final Wars. I am guessing those were the last three but might be wrong.

The only Godzilla titles totally absent in R1 are Godzilla vs. Megalon, Godzilla 1985 and Godzilla vs. Biollante. The proper order is however they came out as listed on IMDb. King Kong Escapes, the Mothra series, Rodan, etc. don't fit into the Godzilla timeline. Stick with Godzilla-only films and start at the beginning in '54.

We also need proper widescreen releases for Godzilla v. King Ghidorah (1991) and Godzilla v. Mothra (1992).

I have to confess I've been watching most of the recent releases in English, despite having the original japanese versions available. Must be getting old :)

Yeah, The Heisei series is pretty good. I actually think I like the Biollante one the most, it was the most different I guess. The others were pretty much a reboot of the previous tales, not that that's bad cuz I loved them. Well...I still kinda like SpaceGodzilla even though..it's eh. And well Destroyah was good cuz..well..the Big G was going down no matter what at that time.

Wikipedia has a list in chronology of release specifically of the Toho films and additionally lists the American film below that list. http://www.madman.com.au/ has good R4 editions of many Godzilla films including Godzilla vs. Megalon and a few others not released in proper form in the US. Their releases have neat reversible covers too that feature some original Japanese artwork. I also recommend their releases of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs Mothra: The Battle for Earth, Godzilla vs Destroyah, and Godzilla vs Space Godzilla compared with what is available in the US if at all.

Yeah...kind of wished I had held onto that VHS of Godzilla vs. Megalon when I was a kid.

Was just watching the Invasion of the Astro Monster a few nights ago...so-so as a Godzilla movie but damn good retro sci fi.
