Re: Scorpion Releasing (new horror/cult label)
looking over their releases, seems more eclectic than just horror. Nice to see GREASER'S PALACE getting a reissue, didn't want pay king's ransom for the OOP DVD. VOYAGER is one that's been on my wish list for awhile, so thats good.

Re: Scorpion Releasing (new horror/cult label)
I bought Silent Scream on release day, it was ok, nothing special.
It was neat to see Jody's girlfriend from Soap as the lead character. That's what I was thinking of during most of the movie. And a older Lilly Munster, who was hard to recognize. |

Re: Scorpion Releasing (new horror/cult label)
Watched Doctor Death recently. Great tongue in cheek drive-in horror film and the production quality on the disc was stellar. I hope these guys are around for a long, long time.
Looking forward to Nickel Mountain- a film I was just thinking about and was certain would never, ever get released on DVD. |

This is being released by Shout! on 10/5 as part of a double feature with Twin Dead. Unfortunately, it does not look like it is getting a blu release like the other recent Corman discs have.

Re: Scorpion Releasing (new horror/cult label)
Totally forgot that this DVD was released last month, even though I'd been waiting for it for so long:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg Documentary with Woody Strode, Muhammed Ali, music by James Brown, Aretha Franklin. Can't go wrong with that. Only extra is an audio commentary by the director Jeff Kanew So far can't find a single review for this title. Whitey still stomping his foot down on the exposure of the release? Oh yes, and another that slipped through the cracks finally is Robert Downey Sr's "Greaser's Palace", an excellent double biller with "El Topo" if you ever want to schedule one. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg |
Re: Scorpion Releasing (new horror/cult label)
Greaser's Palace is a great, surreal movie. I'm glad that it's been re-released.

The official web site has an impressive line-up of upcoming & announced titles.
You can look here for New & Coming Soon releases. As for Titles Announced: American Nightmare (1983) Day After Halloween (1978) Double Exposure (1983) Fantasist (1989) Human Experiments (1980) Incubus (1982) Mark of Cain / Thrill Kill [Double Feature] Satan's Slave (1976) Survivor, The (1980) Whispers Each film has its own page which lists the purported bonus features. I'm particularly interested in The Survivor, an example: Anyone, feel free to chime in when you learn of these films' release dates. So, who's looking forward to what? Scorpion's Katarina vs. Code Red's Maria: preferences? I've only seen Maria's shtick on Haunted so far, but I find Katarina's accent much more pleasant to listen to.

I've been picking these up. Initially, I'd started grabbing them to watch during the horror challenge. These and the Maria series. Of all the ones I bought, the only I one I actually got around to watching was Final Exam. I'm a sucker for horror flicks and both Katarina and Maria, so I'll probably just keep getting them as they're released.

Only Katarina I've bought so far is The Devil Within Her, but I've been curious about Nothing But The Night & can't find any reviews for that. The Pyx looks interesting but Karen Black bugs me for some reason. And I already have the Mondo Macabro pressing of Satan's Blood.
Only Maria title I've bought is Night of the Demon (2nd pressing with the hilarious reversible cover). I'm glad I only rented Haunted because... *phew* I usually champion the unearthing of obscure films, but sometimes a film comes along that makes me think "maybe this should've remained obscure". |
