LOL! Nobody was really answering me so I re-read all the threads pertaining to these clubs and pretty much got my answer. I don't even remember the exact question either. It might have been something like can we begin with the intention of participating, but if we don't post for every movie, can we still be involved... because sometimes things come up? Something to that effect.

I just wondered because I thought I'd be all over the October Horror Challenge this year because I'm unemployed, but I got a lot of freelance work at the last minute and wasn't as active in the challenge as I wanted to be.

I had to pick Don't Look Now

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EKWEPp4YW5w&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EKWEPp4YW5w&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

One of my favorites. A movie that I love more every time I watch.
I almost picked Brain Damage but figured it might be hard for some folks to get a hold of who haven't seen it.

Re: The Horror Film Club

I'm confused. Why are people submitting choices for movies in this thread? What was the "join the horror film club thread" for then? I thought people were placing their order number of who gets to pick the next movie??? Confused I am.

And couldn't the thread to post discussion be done as soon as a movie is picked? That way if you see the movie this week, you can still post about it while it is fresh in your mind instead of having to wait several weeks.

Because I'd like this one to act as the main discussion thread. The other one was more or less to get the ball rolling and just following the example of the CC Club. Yeah, looking back it probably would've made more sense to have everyone choose their picks as they sign up since obviously there's quite a few that haven't done so yet. Oh well.

As far as how they're chosen, it's being determined by putting all the current picks in a random number generator roughly a month in advance. That way there's at least somewhat of a surprise element and plenty of time for preparation.

Sure. I'm actually glad you reminded me because I was already planning on putting up the first selection early. And unless anyone can give me a reason not to, I'll do the same for all selections immediately after they're chosen. The thread links will be in the first post, so there won't be any trouble finding them.

I hope your confusion has been cleared.

Currently the selections of the Criterion Film Club give you a discount through DVD Empire. I have no idea whether or not IB was planning on doing the same here.

I was president of the Horror Movie Club in 9th grade, but after we watched Cannibal Holocaust everyone stopped showing up.

Shuttle chosen by LickTheABCs | Netflix Watch Instantly Link

All other suggestions go back in the pot. Until we meet again!
Is this the kickoff to the whole thing? I'm excited I wanted to watch shuttle.

No one at my house has watched the entire movie except me. My daughter said, "Tell me you didn't pay more than a dollar for that movie".

Re: The Horror Film Club

So far, I am 0 for 2 trying to find these movies for rent. My library can't get them earlier. I thought I had "Shutter" on its way, but then I got an e-mail a couple days ago saying it was too new to get from another library.

I might have to find a way to afford Netflix so I can contribute to this club.

Re: The Horror Film Club

So do we watch it on that date or do we just hold off on discussion until the day after?

Re: The Horror Film Club

Netflix shipped The Silent Scream later than I thought it would. I may not receive it until the 12th, so I'll likely be a day late to discussions.

Re: The Horror Film Club

My first recommendation: The Legend of Hell House

By the way, I just checked and Shuttle is available streaming on Netflix which is cool! I will probably check it out later this week. I guess we should try to wait until the start date but if it is posted earlier, my curiosity gets the better of me.

Re: The Horror Film Club

^ Excellent! I just might be able to get involved with the discussion after all. I hope all the parts are there. I'd hate to have a similar experience to the one I had with Silent Night, Deadly Night. The 6th part had been removed by YouTube.

If anyone is interested, I'd recommend downloading them now before any of them get removed.

Since we're on different coasts, it'll be fun to figure out the time

Going by your time, I don't get home until around 8:30 pm on weekdays. For weekends, I'm free after 6 pm Saturday and after 4:15 pm Sunday. The best time for me would be 4:15 on Sunday.

Hopefully one of those times works for you and we can get some others on board.

I setup an xbox live metatag for Netflix parties earlier: DVDTalkHorror

Reason for that is that you can do parties with anyone on a person's friend list and everyone on that particular tag is for watching horror movies. Set it up during the horror challenge but never did a party.

If anyone else wants to sign up, send a friend request and I'll accept it.
