Future of DVD Rentals?
Here is an article I found about the possible future of DVD rentals.
http://mashable.com/2009/11/11/netflix-delayed-rentals/ I don't think a 30 day window between the sales release and the rental release will make much of a difference. People who like to buy will buy them and people who like renting will wait out the 30 days and rent it. Those who download pirated movies will continue to do so, I don't think this rental delay structure will increase downloading. Usually you can get a download 30 days before it comes out on DVD regardless. It may be a win-win for both the studio who may see their DVD sales increase and for the rental companies who will get a discount from the studios. |

With the window having been shortened to 3-4 months in some cases, adding an extra month will just be like going back to how it used to be, or still shorter.
