John Badham wanted to film in black and white. Universal wouldn't let him. The film was released in beautiful color. All tv showings are in full color, as is the very first vhs release. At some point Badham got his hands on the film and washed out all the color. The Image dvd, Universal dvd, and I believe the laserdisc also have the washed out color. Some scenes almost look black and white, others look tinted.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but "The House that Screamed" (1969) aka "La Residencia". A very well directed movie that's a lot like "Suspiria". It is available on a "Elvira" DVD, but the transfer quality is not that great.

I haven't heard of a lot of these movies, but now that Phantasm II is out the only release I really would enjoy is The Town that Dreaded Sundown. I've never seen it but I saw a bootleg copy at a horror movie convention and the cover looked interesting.

Looks like Cannibal Girls is getting released in March:

Second City TV regulars Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin star in this Canadian horror spoof as a couple on a romantic holiday who settle into a quaint little bed-and-breakfast run by a trio of flesh-eating ladies who fancy them for tomorrow's menu.

Remember, when the WARNING BELL rings, close your eyes if you're squeemish!

Coming to DVD and Blue-Ray April 2010. (dvdswelike.com)

NIGHTMARE IN WAX has been released a couple of times, first as a full frame transfer one of Rhino's "Horrible Horrors" sets and recently in 16X9 anamorphic in Mill Creeks' "Gorehouse Greats" collection. Check Wal-Mart for $5.00 copies. Apparently this was the print that was to have been released by BCI last year.

So hoping the BD version of the films makes it way out as well. I know both are planned for March, but with a film like this the BD could be dropped before you know it.

Re: What unreleased horror do you want on DVD for next Halloween?

Although it is available in the Universal Legacy Collection, I don't know why they never included The Invisible Man in the Legacy Series (The Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Sting, Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo, To Kill A Mockingbird)

I have not seen any announcements for the original Willard. I was hoping Scorpion Releasing might do it, since they have a deal with the original distributor Cinerama, but so far nothing. I even emailed them... no reply.

Re: What unreleased horror do you want on DVD for next Halloween?

Boggy Creek was released by Hen's Tooth and has a cheap version available from Cheezy Flicks now

Dark Night of The Scarecrow is coming out in a few months

Fright Night has a pretty good standard release already and will probally hit Blu when the remake comes out

Fright Night II had a crappy Full Screen release from Lionsgate a few years ago

Thanks for the heads up. Dark Night of The Scarecrow is one of my favorites and it's only a month away. After the initial press release, I gave up.

Sadly, I figure we will not see a proper 25th anniversary Fright Night release because of the remake. Still, I was really hoping we would see Fright Night blu-ray this year along with Fright Night 2 in it's original aspect ratio.

Legend of Boggy Creek still hasn't received the treatment it deserves.
