I don't watch Sesame Street anymore nor have I in probably over 15 years, but I wouldn't mind taking a look at this, it sounds interesting. I wonder if they will have the death of Mr. Hooper in there.

Any more info on this as in what segments are going to be on it? I really hope "I don't want to live on the moon" makes the cut as well as a few Grover/Waiter segments.

Re: Sesame Street:40 Years of Sunny Days 11/10/2009

I have to say, I am bit saddened to see classics like "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon", the original "C is For Cookie" and others left off. I understand, of course, that over 40 years of material is hard to mine but we one of Grover/Waiter sketches, it seems, and hardly any Count.

What??!! No "C is for Cookie"??!! I would have bought the set just for that.

I can't wait for this release. I grew up watching this and would love to see them again. :)

I don't have kids, don't expect any soon (though hope for kids eventually), and haven't watched this since I was little - and yet I am still tempted to get this. Sounds pretty good IMHO.

I wish they would have left off segments that were already on the old school sets. Such as "Being Green", Rubber Duckie, Doin the Pigeon. "C is for Cookie" is on the Old school set vol. 1

I'm glad they didn't, I have no intention on buying season sets of the show, but I wouldn't mind getting a best of type DVD like this.

Re: Sesame Street:40 Years of Sunny Days 11/10/2009

I picked this up today at Wal-Mart for $20, it's not too bad. I mean, not having C is for Cookie on there is ridiculous it's got Marilyn Horme singing the song, for some reason. It's amazing some of the stuff from the 1987-1989 time period, which is when I was watching it and seeing it again for the first time in 20 years! I found it entertaining and very nostalgic. I also found it interesting how much I remembered. Good memories.

Re: Sesame Street:40 Years of Sunny Days 11/10/2009

They need to just get every individual segment ever used on the show and put those all on a set of DVDs in chronological order.

STILL can't believe how lazy they were not to chapter everything on the "Old School" discs. Haven't gotten the 40th anniversary one yet but probably will.

I watched Sesame Street religiously in the 70s, quit around 1980 because not only was I too old for it by then, but because I was sick of them repeating the same segments over and over. A few years later I checked on it again and they were STILL running the SAME segments, many looking horribly outdated. By the 1990s it looked like they'd given everything a facelift though.

Re: Sesame Street:40 Years of Sunny Days 11/10/2009

I hope there's another Old School set soon, I hope it has "Some Enchanted Lunchtime" and "(The Sign It Says) Don't Walk" which are actually really touching, SEL is a lovely parody of Some Enchanted Evening (I used to think that was the actual tune and its even better than the real SEE!) and it's sad because when I was young I couldnt make friends easily :(

Sad to see they don't have "I Don't Want To Live on the Moon" on there but pleased about the Making Crayons film and Teeny Little Super Guy.
Still I guess with 40 years of material it is hard to select what to put on there.

Re: Sesame Street:40 Years of Sunny Days 11/10/2009

I just finished watching the set and enjoyed it a lot overall but thought there was too much time devoted to more recent material (ie the last 5-10 years) on Disc 2. I loved the splendid parodies of the Spin Doctors, and Alicia Keys though (I never saw that skit, UK TV had long since stopped showing the show by that point).
Annoyed there was only ONE Grover the Waiter skit , and there should have been more Bert/Ernie :( Too many things had already been on the Old School sets.
I'd never seen "The Death of Mr. Hooper" episode and found that scene included here, really, really sad :( Very brave for a kids show to do that.
