Uh...wow. Sad that there is no Blu for this but...I haven't ever seen the other 2, though I've always wanted to own them. So I guess I must buy these things.

If you have a Blu-ray player, the UK Blu-ray is region free.

So, if I've got all these films on Region 3 SE or LE sets why would I purchase this set? For the booklet?

That is silly. I really liked Cabin Fever and even Hostel, not so much with the second Hostel. It's not like they had Eli Roth re-shoot the movies.

I'm pretty sure you won't be forced to read his essay.

Blu or not, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. IMHO, the 3 movies handle the subject matter very differently so don't expect the other 2 to be like Oldboy -- but I think that's what makes them great. Each one has a different take, Park Chan Wook doesn't repeat himself here even though he easily could have.

One cool thing to note: In Lady Vengeance, Park Chan Wook thought it would be fun to bring back many of the actors from his previous films. You'll recognize actors throughout Lady Vengeance from:
JSA: Yeong-ae Lee-(Maj. Sophie E. Jean ) as Lady V herself
Mr. Vengeance: Ha-kyun Shin and Kang-ho Song-- My favorite cameos, since these two play the major antagonists of Mr. V, and here they play a hitmen team.
Oldboy: Min-sik Choi (Oh Dae-su), Woo-jin Lee (Ji-tae Yu), Hye-jeong Kang (Mi-do), Byeong-ok Kim (Mr. Han), a few more as well.

Min-sik Choi will always stand out to me from now on. The trailer for Lady V comes up and I just immediately recognize him. Nice to see that he plays a different character from Dae-su.

I second the disappointment in no blu-ray set, that being said, for $50 this is amazing. The thought of knowing what it will be during the DDD sale makes me even happier. Cha-ching!

You should feel good about that. I only need discs 2 & 8 ...and I will still be buying it. Kick ass set! Would have been nice to see this done originally.

Eli Roth may have some liner notes in here, but think about it, when Armond White wrote liner notes in Criterion's "The Hidden Fortress", nobody complained! And that one had a boatload of errors in facts and dates too!

Yeah, but the internet isn't jealous of Armond White.

In a Steelbook box with seperate Steelbook cases for each movie? Top it off with Steelbook disks and a limited edition collectible hammer made of Steelbook material.

I have personally only seen Oldboy and own known of them, this box set will be in my collection when I find a good deal on it.

I loved the cameos/supporting roles myself, especially Byeong-ok Kim, his performance like Min-sik Choi's compared to Oldboy is night and day.

Woo-jin Lee's cameo though did break the mood of the film slightly.

Mr. Park (the "warden" in Oldboy) also shows up as one of the parents as does the guy from the top of the building in Oldboy.
