Have you ever made your own Fan Cut (The search features sucks edition)
The Complete Version of Watchmen got me thinking about this again and since I couldn't find the original thread here it is again.
I have made an extended edition of The Re-Animator by editing all the deleted scenes back in except for the dream sequence.
My motivation for this was; as a kid I grew up with the longer 95 minute R-Rated version and I loved it. So when this gem came out on DVD I was both delighted to finally have the unrated gore but disappointed that they edited it down to 86 minutes.
My edited version has been great over the years, I have shown it to 15ish people (all of whom were seeing Re-Animator for the first time) and they all enjoyed it. The only down parts are the reintroduced scenes are in full screen and are washed out in color.
Future Project: Take the sound off my Return of the Living Dead 2 VHS and dub it over the video for the DVD release (I know that was my future project last time but they changed iMovie on me and I just never got around to learning how to use the new one).
What about you?

Here you go:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/52...-you-want.html
It didn't show up when I searched for FanEdit, but it showed up when I searched for FanEdits. Great search...
EDIT: Damn, Groucho beat me while I was typing.
The FanEdit community continues to grow. I have recently watched extended/restored versions of
the original "Manhunter" (with all scenes compiled and restored from the various DVD releases) (this was great, and the "official" DVD producers should be ashamed of their treatment of this movie, with idiotic and pointless mistakes in production)
the original "Dawn of the Dead," essentially the German 155-minute version, except all in English (this was bizarre, and is worth watching only as a curiosity, IMO--talk about a slow and unfocused plot...)
Currently downloading what is supposed to be an awesome version of Jaws. I think it's called "The Sharxploitation Edition."

Seriously how did you guys find this? I looked for like 10 mins.
Perhaps DVD talk has an algorithm that makes search results more unreliable every time you bump an older thread?
Thanks btw, great read. I had totally forgot I was going to reedit Alien 3.

Unless you're 100% sure that the title contains the word you're looking for (and you search titles only), use the Google search. Just append "site:forum.dvdtalk.com" to the end of your search on Google and it will look within the forum.

For example, typing:
yields:
Did you mean: unfunny Groucho comments
OK... bad example.

To find the old thread, I used the "Search" dropdown arrow (on the blue toolbar below the thread title while viewing this thread), and chose "Advanced Search."
Searching for "FanEdit" in "All open forums" gave a few results (something about a Star Wars fanedit with Chewbacca getting a medal, and a couple others), but not the old thread. Searching for "FanEdits" gave the old thread as the only result.
