Didn't see it mentioned, but Rifftrax now has a Pluto.tv channel. Pretty heavy with commercials, but they do actually have a good variety on there. Night of the Living Dead 3-Riffer is on now, then Attack of the Puppet People and Buffalo Rider next. I haven't watched a full one yet, but I've checked the listing a few times and haven't seen a repeat yet.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for a 29 city MST3K Live your. It's two films, Eegah (with all new riffs) and a mystery movie. They'll be doing both of them in Minneapolis, which is luckily a doable dive for me.

I got my tickets to the Richmond show yesterday. We're getting the mystery movie. They were a little more than I'd prefer to spend, especially with the crazy $14 per ticket fee - and I certainly didn't go for the cool but very pricey VIP packages - but I've never seen MST3K or its progeny actually, honest-to-goodness live. (I've been to almost all of the Rifftrax shows beamed into the theaters.) I figured this could be my only shot.

I'm taking this woman I started seeing. She'd heard of MST3K, but had never seen it before so I introduced her to the show the other day. I chose Manos. She really enjoyed the show, but we eventually started making out partway through it, as we've done every time we've attempted to watch a movie. Every now and then, though, she'd catch a line and start laughing. I think she'll be able to hang.

The price is my problem with the shows. When Cinematic Titanic came though town last, I did the double feature for about the same price as one show of these. And frankly, I'd be willing to pay more for the Cinematic Titanic lineup than I would for these guys.

Per this Reddit thread, Rifftrax is working on a subscription service. I've been waiting a long time for their long promised Roku app. It's great they're doing this for the folks who want it - heck, I may give it a shot for a month or two, but I don't see myself subscribing to yet another service in the longterm - but all I really want is an app that will let me access all of my purchased VOD titles. (And I have been buying a lot from them lately.) The way it sounded in that thread is that that could be an option... for subscribers, though they may give non-subscribers the option. Gah! Guess for the time being I'll keep on hooking my laptop up to my TV.
