Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

There's a RiffTrax Humble Bundle, it's largely MP3 riffs, a few shorts and two VOD.

https://www.humblebundle.com/mobile/...-mobile-bundle

You can also get the RiffTrax version of Mr. B Natural in that link.

I already have all that stuff, but Its a pretty sweet deal if you don't have it all.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

I received Vol XXXVII last week, with the bonus disc of the Oscar previews.

The disc actually lists the 1998 special first, then the 1995 special, without the dates, so those, like me, who are unfamiliar with them may watch them out of chronological order.

It's interesting because the 1998 special has the standard "riffing over the clips," while the 1995 has the jokes/gags in between the clips for the most part. Seeing as the 1995 one was the first of the Oscar/Blockbuster specials, and the only to air on Comedy Central, there may have been legal concerns over how much they could mess with the promo clips.

Anyone want a code for an MP3 riff of Star Wars Episode IV. Whoever claims it first gets it.

Thanks for the heads up. There's a lot I don't own, so I may kick some buck their way.

The Carnival of Souls event was last night. I'd never seen the actual film before. I know some people regard it as a classic - hell, there's a Criterion edition of it (which the guys referenced) - but I didn't think it was all that. The riff was funny, though. Here's the digital goodies link:

http://rifftrax.com/souls

CARNIE gets you 10% off and it's stackable with the surprise 5% code HERK. Follow the above link to add a free "Halloween Party" short. Also the riff for John Carpenter's Halloween is only $1.79 right now.

I'll probably use all of the above to nab the new Walking Dead riff. Just waiting to see if they offer a mailing list code for the Halloween holiday. (It wouldn't shock me if they did.)

Also included in the [email protected] email is their Carnival of Souls song mp3, live show rehearsal footage, and a bonus avatar.

Lastly, I'm kinda bummed that the Christmas live show this year is just a double feature rebroadcast of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and the Christmas Shorts-stravaganza. I was hoping for something new. Oh, well. December is extremely busy, so in a way it's a blessing I don't have to fight to squeeze the Rifftrax show in this year.

Whoops! Thanks for pointing that out. I thought I specified that it was the RiffTones song, but guess I didn't. I edited the above post accordingly.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

I just saw in their email that they've riffed the first episode of Netflix's Daredevil. There's another one I'll be picking up!

If you contributed even a single dollar to their last Kickstarter, you get it for free (along with the riffs of the first episode of The Walking Dead, Jurassic World, and the three riffer version of Road House)

Shoot. Unfortunately, I missed out on that one. I meant to contribute, but kept pushing it off and by the time I went to do it that Kickstarter was closed.

There will be new MST3K this year, though, and since the new stuff is going to be released in December and does include a Christmas episode, you are good to go. Riff-wise.

Thanks to the Humble Bundle, I have extra codes for The Wizard and TMNT (2014), if anyone is interested.

Joel has said early 2017, so it seems we won't be getting the episodes before the end of the year. The episode premieres (in NY and LA, I think), and the online premiere for backers might still happen before the end of the year.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

Not news but I had to get this off my chest. I may have mentioned before that I barely saw MST3K during it's original run but I have made a point to obtain every commercially released DVD I can so I can enjoy this show after the fact. I don't go in any kind of order when I pick a new episode, I just grab a boxset that looks interesting and go.

So this means that yesterday afternoon I saw Kitten with a Whip for the first time ever yesterday and I may have a new favorite. I watched the intro with Mike first and his comments were an interesting hint of what was to come and I was not disappointed. There were some of the most savage riffs I have ever seen this show do, the sketches were all surreal and absurd, and I just can't get over how I left this episode unwatched for so long!

"He's about to snap that steering wheel in half."

Just a random thought, sorry if you thought it was news.

RiffTrax is having an election sale. Go to their site, vote for Cerebro or Magneto and then you'll get 20% off in your cart. Today only. (or use coupon code vote2016 at checkout)

And if you pair that with the CARNIE and HERK codes, you get about 31% off.

I wish I had seen your post before I ordered, but 20% still isn't too shabby. I got Future Force (deal of the week) and Honor and Glory.

The Reunion show was great. Thought Time Chasers was kinda disappointing.

Shout!Factory has started their Turkey Day Sale, it runs today through the 28th. All MST3K titles are 50% off list except for Volumes XXXVII, XXXVIII and IV, which are excluded from the sale, so most of the boxes will be $30 or less.

You buried the lede there, the set has another limited edition bonus disc:
Special Offer: The first 1,500 orders placed on ShoutFactory.com will receive an exclusive bonus disc featuring MST3K: The (Nearly) Definitive KTMA Segment Collection (see below for more details), PLUS get it shipped FOUR WEEKS EARLY.

MST3K: The (Nearly) Definitive KTMA Segment Collection

Among the many well-documented epochs in Earth’s history, little has been studied of the year known only as “The KTMA Era.” During this time in 1988, Joel and the bots partook in a pre-season of sorts in which their orbital antics were broadcast only to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Recently, archaeologists have worked around the clock to recover documents from The KTMA Era hoping to learn more about human culture before the widespread availability of cheesy movie riffing.

Though some footage from this primordial age was inevitably lost (or possibly still await discovery locked in some ancient, underground tomb), scientists have painstakingly reassembled every existing KTMA host segment and used advanced technological techniques to transfer them all to the disc you hold in your hand. Thanks to the miracle of science, we present The (Nearly) Definitive KTMA Segment Collection.
It's somewhat funny that a set without any Joel episodes would have a bonus disc with exclusively Joel host segments.

Shout Factory has been really digging into the vaults since they bought the MST3K rights outright.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

It's disappointing to hear that, based on the description, some of the KTMA stuff may be lost - apparently the long held belief that Jim Mallon had copies of them all and that they were digitized at one point for preservation wasn't true?
