Cool, I was wondering when we might get some more. I wish Boy in the Bubble would get a disc release.

Not that I can find. Hopefully "Humdinger Edition" means...something. It's not on the label's site at http://www.mediumrare.uk.com/ yet.

Weren't there murmurings when The Movie was re-released on DVD last time (with the 16x9 transfer), about somebody from Best Brains saying how they wished Universal had asked them for extras because they had a tape with the original, longer cut on it they would have provided? I would gladly rebuy this on Blu if it included a copy of the longer cut, even if it were standard def only.

If it has extras, I'm buying it regardless of region coding. I'll pick up a region-free player somewhere.
But I'm not really expecting extras.

But being called "The Humdinger Edition", there must be some reason for that...
I emailed them about what extras will be available, but no reply yet.

Unfortunately, I don't think Plastic Bubble was one of their bestsellers. Too bad, I thought it was one of their best that year.

"Humdinger, noun, \ˈhəm-ˈdiŋ-ər\: a striking or extraordinary person or thing." We'll see.
OT: Siskel & Ebert's 2-Thumbs-Up review of MST3K: The Movie was recently uploaded to this S&E video archive. The MST3K review starts around 3:45.

Just a heads up for people who missed out on the long OOP 20th Anniversary tin with the Crow figurine, apparently Shout Factory found a box of them in storage and are selling them on the website again. $60 and comes with a disclaimer "Shout! Factory endeavors to ship pristine tins to every customer. Since these tins are from the last box recovered from being lost in storage, some of these boxes may have a bit of torn shrink wrap or a mark on the barcode, and as such are being sold as is."
Just got shipping notice on my order.
They also still have Vol. XVI with the Tom Servo figurine for sale on their website as well.

This isn't the first time they've done this. Makes me wonder if they're really "lost"

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
I wish they'd release more single episodes. That's why I've held off on the box sets. It's very frustrating to have to spend upwards of 40 or 50 dollars for a set with 4 episodes when I abhor 3 of the 4 shows on it. Or even worse, having to spend 40 to 50 dollars on a set with 4 episodes where 3 of the show have Joel as the host just to get one good episode with Mike. Ewwww.

Maybe it's because I started with Mike, but I've never understood this attitude.
They have different styles, but the show is the same.
I buy every official release, and I'm just glad to get more MST3K on DVD.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
The only episodes I find jarring, I must confess, are the Season 1 Eps. The first eps I ever watched were Sci-Fi era Mike, too, but I've grown to appreciate Joel a lot more over the years. But I just can never get adjusted to a non-Kevin Tom Servo. In a way, I think he sort of became the heart of MST3K. Despite any changeovers, Kevin was still Kevin. I'm sure I'd be more used to Weinstein if I'd been with the show since the KTMA days, but I guess it's sort of equivalent to a Roger Waters-era Pink Floyd fan who can't get used to Syd's influence on Piper (except I love all eras of Floyd).

I say bring on the boxsets with extra features. I don't like the single-disc versions with no extras. Although I'm excited to get the next boxset coming out next week, I still have only watched 1 episode from the previous set released...

I don't really care about extras for the movie (it's not like we need a commentary. that's what the whole movie is), but just as long as it's region free, I'll be happy. It is region free, isn't it ?
And the show ISN'T the same with Joel. Joel's just not funny. He reminds me of a only slightly more active Ben Stein. He's flat and emotionless most of the time. Mike is just far funnier.

I missed most of the Sci-fi episodes so I hope Shout! releases more in the future.

Win Joel Hodgson's Money
Joel Hodgson starring as Jim Carrey's shrink in The Mask.
Joel Hodgson as financial analyst.
Ben Stein to Torgo: "DO something!"
Nah, this bizarro world doesn't really work.
I guess you must really hate Stephen Wright.

In other news, Rifftrax will be doing Manos, beamed into theaters on August 16. I guess if Cinematic Titanic can go back to the well, so can they. (Note: I'm not complaining.)

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread
Am I the only person that cares not one whit for Rifftrax or Cinematic Titanic? I have every commercially released title (even the Godzilla vs. Megalon box) (and the box that just came out, haven't ordered that yet) but I have absolutely zero interest in these other projects.
Maybe it's the lack of puppets, I've always graded anything with puppets on a curve, so perhaps that clouds my judgement, but Living Deadpan's analogy regarding redoing a MST'd movie to a solo artist doing their former band's work just seems to apply to the whole thing.
