For his last Season Dick Ebersol wanted an "all stars" kind of cast, so that's why the 85 cast had all those "names" in it. Makes sense that a sports guy would go the "all star" route.

I started watching SNL, I don't remember the year, but it was the Murphy, Piscopo, Kazurinsky, Brad Hall, Mary Gross, Robin Duke season.

I can remember enjoying it quite a bit, but that might have been because I was seven/eight years old and staying up to watch something "adult."

The first really horrible, awful season I remember was the Elliot, Garofalo, Mohr, Kids in the Hall season. It sounded great on paper, but it was terrible in execution.

Honestly, I only care about the Farley years.

I don't even think the Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo years were great. They themselves were hilarious, but most of the episodes weren't really memorable.

I'd prefer it if they just skipped ahead to when Jon Lovitz and Kevin Nealon joined which made way for the next classic era with Farley, Myers, Carvey, etc.
