DVDs with audience participation tracks?
Anyone have a list? I tried a search here and was surprised that I did not find one. The closest I came was a discussion here: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/45...nce-track.html
Let's start one. These are all I could find so far: Planet Terror Sin City Rocky Horror Picture Show Freddy Got Fingered E.T. Is that it? While definitely a novelty, I think these are a fun way to watch the movie on a repeat viewing. (Related search terms: "audience track" "audience participation track" "audience reaction track") |
Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
there's one for E.T? really?!
|
Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
The recent 'Pieces' disk includes the "Vine Theater Hollywood Experience."

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
it runs through the complete film? Oh I definately have to give this a listen.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
Yeah, I love the Planet Terror and Sin City ones. Rodriguez just really loves to give us fans as much in features as possible.
|
Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
So what are these tracks exactly? I get audience participation on Rocky Horror, but on Planet Terror?

Yeah, it's awesome! From what I remember, you hear some of the audience cheering but it's mostly Williams' orchestra.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
This thread reminded me: Will there ever be a time when tv shows will be re-released on DVD or some other new video format in which one can watch the tv show with or without the laugh track. I really would like to see laugh tracks removed on every single tv show!

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
FUCK YES! I hate those tracks..they all sound the same...I can't even tell if it's real or not.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
I always get sad when a show I loved comes out on dvd then I find out that I can no longer stand watching it because I forgot it had a laugh track. So used to the shows I like not having them now. Only show I even watch anymore with on is Big Bang Theory on cbs.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
Charles "Charley" Douglass was the asshole that invented the laugh track in the 1950s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laugh_track
What a form of brainwashing!...I think every country used it too! |

Audience theater reactions at the premieres of these flicks. You hear ppl cheer, scream, laugh, etc...good stuff. I like them a lot.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
I will argue that Freddy Got Fingered is a better movie with the audience participation track on. Not saying much as the film still sucks, but it makes the film more enjoyable.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
Obviously these tracks work better for movies that have rabid fans.
I think it would be cool if they recorded an audience track at the premiere of Star Wars Episode I (or any Star Wars movies for that matter). |
Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
Freddy Got Fingered has an audience track ? Ugh. I couldn't make it through 10 minutes of that crap. They should do Super Fan tracks for movies. They could have a contest and pick a few of the biggest fans of each movie and have them do a commentary.

Get A Life did it with their two DVD releases. Made it much better but it would seem odd without it on some shows. Married With Children has times when someone would enter and they'd stand there for five to ten seconds before saying anything, occasionally started to say something but then pausing and starting again.
One I really wish would be fixed is Sports Night. The laugh track on it always felt really out of place and didn't fit the show at all. If I recall correctly Sorkin hated it too, it was the network that put it there. |

Oh alright. I read audience participation and I think of Rocky Horror and throwing toast or spraying water. I couldn't figure out how the hell you'd do that with a movie like Planet Terror, or why you would even want to.

Re: DVDs with audience participation tracks?
M*A*S*H has the with or without laugh track option.

I think removing the laugh track would work on shows where it was artificial and added after the fact. Shows that were actually filmed in front of an audience would lead to awkward moments like you mention. Maybe those could just be toned down.
