Wrestling DVD Release List

WWE DVD Release List (pdf)

Repeating the previous rules:

The thread is to have a discussion on all wrestling DVD related topics.

There is another thread, which I have to update, that has the upcoming DVD releases.

For weekly wrestling discussion, you can go to the Sports forum at DVDTalk, where there is a very nice monthly thread with all the news pertaining to pro wrestling. There is even has Pay Per View contest!

Don't post active ebay auctions. Don't talk about bootlegs. Don't threadcrap. And please keep general wrestling discussion on the Sport section of DVDTalk.

Let the talking begin....

When are they gonna release those WCW dvd specs? It is easily one of my most anticipated dvd releases of the year

Hopefully soon, they already released the best of SD details so probably next week or so.

I know this isn't really a dvd report but I found out that WWE once again is changing another 2 pay-per-view titles...

No Mercy = "Hell In A Cell"

Cyber Sunday = "Annihilation"

And at this point is when I get even more jealous of the UK Tagged Classics...

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

this is the first official WWE DVD release of No Way Out 2001. I still don't get why they didn't release it on DVD in North America and basically they started the monthly DVD releases with Backlash 2001 til now.

UK fans are lucky getting the older releases without editing while we only get the Tagged Classics starting from 2003.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

No Way Out 2001 would be nice to have on DVD. I have a good Oppo dvd player that can play the PAL formatted discs, but the slower framerate bothers me a bit, with that "film-esque" almost slow motion look to it. I'm still tempted to pick it up, but I am wondering if I might just be better off trying to pick up a sealed or barely used vhs copy off ebay and transferring it to dvd myself.

Man...looking at those lineups I realized how long it's been since the post-Hulkamania Golden Age.

After Armageddon 2000 / No Way Out 2001, I do not need to get anymore Tag Classics, unless they release the UK PPV's, Wrestlefest's. I practically own every PPV from 1985 to 2009 atm INCLUDING :

The War To Settle The Score
The Wrestling Classic
The Big Event
Tuesday In Texas
Over The Edge 1999

The War To Settle The Score and The Big Event weren't PPV events.

The War To Settle The Score (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War...ttle_the_Score) - was shown
LIVE on MTV but it only featured one match - Hulk Hogan vs Roddy Piper. The rest of the card
may have been shown LIVE or Tape Delay on the MSG Network. Some of the matches may also
been shown on the weekly WWF TV shows. The whole card wasn't released on VHS/DVD here in
the United States although some of the matches did show up later on VHS via the WWF Coliseum
Home Video series. (I remember being upset that I couldn't be home to watch this LIVE on MTV
as I was at a Oilers-Sabres hockey game that evening. I didn't have a VCR yet so I couldn't record
it to watch later and MTV at the time didn't replay their shows so I couldn't catch it that way. I think
Prime Time Wrestling showed it a week later.)

The Big Event (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Event) wasn't shown LIVE or Tape Delay.
Three of the matches were shown later on TV via Prime Time Wrestling and two other matches
(Steamboat-Roberts and Hogan-Orndorff) were released on DVD. The card (missing a few matches)
was later released on VHS via the WWF Coliseum Home Video series. (I was at this event in person
and could be seen in crowd shots as well on the TV/video - one was during the Steamboat-Roberts
match - remember being pissed about Roberts snake and Steamboats dragon not being allowed at
at ringside for some reason - later found out customs didn't allow them over the border.)

The Wrestling Classic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wrestling_Classic) - was the first
WWF PPV ever to be shown LIVE. The first Wrestlemania which took place earlier in the year was
only shown LIVE via close circuit television. (I watch that one at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium -
had some kick ass seats - upper golds, right in the middle - screen was directly in front of me.)
That Wrestlemania did wind up on PPV eventually as later that summer, cable systems use it to
help promote the invent of PPV. (I think the PPV cost was around what a regular PPV movie cost
at the time - $4.95 - remember having some friends over to watch it despite the results being known.)

They're still hidden gems and often overlooked :)

This disc includes "Ric Flair vs. Magnum T.A. DDP/Goldberg is awesome!!

Booker T vs. Lance Storm

Yes!!

Storm is one of my all time favorites, and i absolutely loved his run in WCW, for this match Lance held every singles title in WCW except the Worlds Heavyweight, and it seemed as if he was going to win it that night.

I picked up Against All Odds 2009 dvd today. It didn't come in the cardboard sleeve box like how Lockdown 2009 did. So I guess it was just that dvd that comes that way.

I thought that wasn't out until next Tuesday. Did I miss something?

No, you didn't miss anything. It still comes out next week. Suncoast in my area had it out a week early.

In addition to the occasional store that will break street date, ROHWrestling.com typically has TNA discs available well before street date. I received my copy of Against All Odds last Thursday from them.

is netflix a trustworthy site?, i dont see any dates on the matches, just the year

if that list is a fact than im happy, but could of done better but only so much they can do on 3 discs
im going to see official listing with exact dates and chapters and extras before i judge but would of liked to see a few matches on disc 2 replaced by matches during later years

team nwo vs team wcw-if this is from fall brawl 96 im happy
rodman match with the mailman-great to see this on there
ddp vs goldberg-goldbergs best match imo
storm vs booker t-loved it when storm won almost all titles i also thought he would beat booker for the title

flair-steamboat from 89, what match could that be?

chuckliddell 06-30-09 10:54 PM

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

hopefully among the extras are the bret hart tricking goldberg with a steel plate and the fingerpook of doom

Nope, total fly-by-night operation.

If I can be serious for a moment, until it's been officially announced, I would hold my breath until I'm blue in the face and continually question why it hasn't been. Err, I mean take it with a grain of salt.

I think he meant in terms of listings - some sites allow user-submitted content. ;)
