Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

CDPlus.com (Canadian retailer) is listing the Batista DVD for an Oct. 20 release and it's titled Batista - "I Walk Alone".

Guess we'll see which one it is...a 3 disc Batista set is pretty overkill but could be interesting if a documentary is included with comments from HHH, and Flair and possibly his OVW days and when he was the "Deacon".

Nice to see the 2007 Blockbuster exclusives making the rounds on the secondary market. I found out about them when ONS 2007 hit, and quickly rounded up the ones I missed (Rumble- JD) and continued buying the rest as they hit through No Mercy. And I'm still waiting on the xage essay on this line which I never saw!

What's the point in a Batista DVD? He hasn't even had more than 3 good matches.

I managed to get all of them minus Great American Bash for cheap. Some of them - if you put the UPC for the Blockbuster exclusives into Amazon, will have an entry. Beats Fleabay.

Posted this around a year or so ago, as per the Rare Ones it will be Royal Rumble & No Way Out 2007.

Summerslam, Unforgiven & No Mercy 2007 used to be rare since they become a rental and not for sale last 2007 after the Benoit Vengeance: Night of Champions fiasco but i don't think it's not that scarce anymore since it's popping up on sale on some blockbuster stores.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

The Batista cover is pretty awesome, although I can't fathom them filling 3 discs with good matches, there's a way for this set to be worthwhile - if it's got all of his 'Taker series and some Finlay matches and some OVW stuff, which got rave reviews for how perfectly he was used, then it might be worth buying. A documentary on his life could be quite interesting, but would definitely be held back by WWE trying to be family-friendly right now.

That won't be a problem, as Lordsofpain.net and various other sources say that the WWE is gradually becoming PG-13 again, rather than just PG. A sign of this was shown last week on Raw, with the Diva's Summer Spectaculer Bikini Match, and this week's Divas Legs Match.

And the fact that they're not tiptoeing around Jeff Hardy's problems on SD. That realism aplus Punk's natural "straigh edge and better than you" gimmick have really made this one of the better feuds of the year.

It's turning CM Punk into a good heel too.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I've just checked Silvervision, and they have announced that they are re-releasing Wrestlemania 17 under the UK Tagged Classics line. It is two discs, as was the Wrestlemania 16 release from the Tagged Classics. At the moment, the artwork shown is the old WWF dvd release with the "F" covered up and put inside the tagged classics cover. It also says "World Wretsling Federation Presents" so obviously they will change that. It says artwork is temporary. Here is a link to the page: http://www.silvervision.co.uk/produc...D-2-Discs.html

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

from that list imo these are the best

goldberg-as long as it features tons of matches from "the streak"
best of war games-greatest team match ever
jericho-most deserving current star that does not have a dvd yet
lesnar-hugely popular right now, and had some great matches in a short career
elimation chamber-there has been enough for a dvd release, similiar to HIAC
in your house-comes great classic matches to chose from

I want a Jericho DVD first of course, but there's plenty of good stuff to put on a JoMo DVD (lots of MNM, singles Johnny Nitro and ECW Morrison awesomeness)

e: I got the last Blockbuster exclusive I needed (GAB 2007) - my second closest store (Medford, NY on NY 112) had a scattered selection of the exclusives

Now I just need in terms of exclusives: the Best Buy Eddie tin (getting when I get a RZ cert), the Edge Ultimate Fan Edition and the FYE HitC busts...and also the super rare Trish Stratus collector's edition

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I'd mark for a Punk compilation to finally get his title wins in DVD format. Aside from his cash-in at Extreme Rules, all of his title wins have been on TV and not seen on DVDs.

Plus, he's had some pretty good matches as well that could make it to that disc. Although, it'd be tough to tell his story without discussing ROH or IWA-MS, but they could throw some OVW stuff in there.

I'd also love to see any of the following from that list:
Goldberg
Best of War Games
Craziest Moments in WWE History
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Chris Jericho
Sting
Best of Clash of the Champions
Best of RAW Season 1
In Your House events

Sting, Steamboat, and Jericho should gets 3 discs each. In Your House is an alright idea but I'd prefer they release the full shows on DVD. Too soon for Punk and Morrison, they should get DVD's down the road though.

As for Goldberg, if it's 3 discs like so many are lately it could be the first 3 disc set to feature 63 full matches.

Best of the Big Men, who hasn't dreamed of the likes of Giant Gonzales, King Mabel, Great Khali, and even the Yeti all one one DVD?

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Is this an open survey anyone can take, or one of those random customer surveys?

I would love best of war games and best of elimination chamber. I am such a mark for gimmick matches. I also think Jericho is overdue for a dvd. I would probably get it if there's some old ECW matches in there.

I wonder what "Craziest Moments in WWE History" would be? I would hope for a shoot style release, but I'm willing to bet that won't happen. I guess the Gobblety Gooker would be in there.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I'm really surprised that an Andre the Giant DVD wasn't put in that list or is scheduled for release. Andre is one of the most recognizable wrestlers ever, to the same level as Hogan, Flair, Savage and the Rock. The amount of matches WWE owns or can get from Japan would easily make for 2-3 DVD sets. Although I would also like to see a Big Men in wrestling DVD profiling people like Big John Stud, Andre, Giant Baba and others, WWE still needs to release an Andre DVD.
