is this the match where jericho wins by submission after using his head against the turnbuckle to regain leverage on the walls? I love that match.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Speaking of Royal Rumble, I watched the DVD last night (my gf got me the steelbook for my birthday), and it was better than I remember. Brief review:

Jack Swagger vs. Matt Hardy - Swagger's got so much potential, Hardy can carry anyone, and this ECW title re-match is just as good as their first. A good opener.

***1/4

Beth Phoenix vs. Melina - Not quite as intense as their "I Quit" match, but there were some pretty sick moves here, including Beth kicking Melina in the head, with Melina's own foot. A couple of botches, but a couple of gasps, a surprise finish, the pace never lets up, and the look on Santino's face at the end is priceless.

**1/2

John Cena vs. JBL - Two things really bothered me about this match: 1) it was the SIXTH time that they had wrestled on a ppv, despite never having great chemistry 2) they had tried to play up the fact that in their last match, JBL had beaten Cena (the parking lot brawl). This WWE's tactic of having a rematch, only now it's for a title, and repeatedly ask the question "can they beat them for a SECOND time." What made this seed of doubt so stupid was that Cena had beaten JBL FOUR times before that, so the suspense was nil. That said, they actually had a nice match. It wasn't as one-sided as some of their other matches (WM 21, Judgment Day '08), and the suspense of how HBK would interfere made the match electric. The finish was good, too.

***1/2

Jeff Hardy vs. Edge
A little slow-going, but there were some good spots at the end, and I honestly didn't see the Matt swerve coming, but that might have something to do with never watching SmackDown. A good match that reminded me of a TNA main-event in that it was solid, but never took off the ground.

***

Royal Rumble - Much better than I remembered. A lot of near-eliminations, nice surprises, and even when the ring was full, it wasn't boring (unlike the 2008 rumble). This ranks somewhere between the last two rumbles. It's much better than last year's, but nowhere near as good as 2007's. A very good match.

So its a recent offer - cool, I thought I may have missed out on a rebate. I'll be near my local FYE store
later today so I'll stop in and see if I can pickup both the ECW and the Graham-Rhodes-AWA three packs.
I know I saw some back in May when I picked up Wrestlemania 25 there so hopefully theres still at least
one of each left for me to purchase so I can take advantage of the rebate.

Edit: Actually I wasn't near my local FYE store during my travels today so I didn't stop in and see if there
were any of those tin three-pack editions left - probably won't get there until later in the week now.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I can't stand Batista, and will only buy his new DVD if it is at a cheap price. His matches bore me to death, but if anything is going to be on that DVD I have a list of what will probably be included:

Raw - November 10 2003
Batista Vs Goldberg

Wrestlemania 21 - April 3 2005
World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs Triple H

Vengeance - June 25 2005
Hell In A Cell Match - World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs Triple H

No Mercy - October 9 2005
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Batista Vs Eddie Guerrero

Smackdown! - January 6 2006
Steel Cage Match - WWE Tag Team Championship
Batista & Rey Mysterio Vs MNM

Survivor Series - November 26 2006
Last Chance Match - World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs King Booker

Backlash - April 29 2007
Last Man Standing Match - World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs Undertaker

Survivor Series - November 18 2007
Hell In A Cell Match - World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs Undertaker

Extreme Rules - June 7 2009
Steel Cage Match - World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs Randy Orton

Notes: I chose the Bakclash match Vs Undertaker rather than the Wrestlemania 23 match because the match was more fun the their 'Mania match.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I'd love to see a Leviathan match if they have access to the footage. They'd also probably have his debut match (D-Von/Batista vs. Faarooq/Randy Orton) as well.

Also, I just found a spare of the two-disc Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD (it is used but otherwise is good condition). Who would be interested in buying/trading for it? I need Allied Powers, the Best Buy Eddie Guerrero set and the Blockbuster exclusive versions of Great American Bash and Unforgiven 2007.

I doubt they'd include the match with Goldberg, since it's only 2 1/2 minutes long, and they might not include the match with Booker T, if only because that was a pretty bad match, and he didn't even win cleanly, and the HIAC will HHH is already on the HHH and Hell in a Cell DVDs. My match listing would look something like this:

WrestleMania 21
vs. Triple H

Backlash 2005
vs. Triple H

No Mercy 2005
vs. Eddie Guerrero

SmackDown - 09/05
vs. Finlay - They had a really good #1 contender's match

Backlash 2007
vs. The Undertaker

Unforgiven 2007
vs. The Great Khali vs. Rey Mysterio

Cyber Sunday 2007
vs. The Undertaker

One Night Stand 2008
vs. Shawn Michaels

Night of Champions 2008
vs. Edge

SummerSlam 2008
vs. John Cena

Armageddon 2008
vs. Randy Orton

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I thought the best Taker/Batista match was the Cage match from SD where Henry interfered and Edge cashed in MitB...followed by Backlash 2007 and Wrestlemania 23.

I'm sure the Batista DVD will be either 1 or 2 disc with likely a 90 minute documentary of his career as the main program with 8-10 matches and promo/segments as extras.

I'd guess a three-disc set with a documentary (it would probably be suprisingly good based on some of the stuff he's said in his book) and about 15 matches and stories.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

was able to get Allied Powers early at one of the walmarts here. Really wish there would have been a little more talk about about some of the tagteams before or while their clips played, other than just the original footage commentary. i like that Miz & Morrison hosted it, but why not Striker? his recent commentary and tidbits on the dvds have been good.

Oh and beware...everytime the word "ass" is said it is edited/garbled. gotta love the PG, even though i doubt any small kids want these dvds...i have a feeling if given an option by their parents to get a dvd or a wrestling figure, they would probably choose a Cena or Jeff Hardy figure over a dvd.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I posted in the trade forum but haven't gotten any interest so I'll try in here. I've come into a spare copy of TNA's 2003 release The Ultimate X Collection, as well as the original 3 NWA-TNA DVD's (Best of X Division, Best of NWA-TNA Title Matches, Best of Bloodiest Brawls). All are the original releases, except the Bloodiest Brawls disc, which is the single disc re-release that is no longer for sale.

I'm looking to part with these if anyone is interested. They are opened but in absolutely mint condition. I'm looking for a copy of Slammiversary 2005 to complete my PPV collection, but am open to trading for ROH DVDs and even monetary offers.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Rather than the Goldberg match, maybe his match against Kane at Armageddon 2002. Or even his match against Kane when he was known as Leviathon at the 2001 OVW Christmas Chaos event.

That might be tricky now that they don't work with OVW anymore.

For what its worth a lot of his OVW stuff is online, including his debut"

If i'm not mistaken, WWE owns all the old OVW footage. Up until at least 2006/2007 I believe.
