I think most of the current WWE Universe had no idea who Steamboat was until earlier this year (by the way, he's still got it!). Now that there is interest, you can bet the DVD will be out before next year's Wrestlemania.

I am totally down for the history of the belt, if they do it right. I did like the other two (rented them, got to pick them up).

I'm looking forward to the new History Of The United States Title, That Will Hopefully Be Released Next Year.

The DVD being released in December will be The History Of The World Championship. But hopefully, next year we will get a History Of The US Title DVD.

Yeah, especially since half of the 2004 title matches would be wiped out because of the Murderin' Midget.

Vol 1 - 1987 - 1991
Vol 2 - 1992 - 1996

No news on Vol 3 and 4 which i think will be released sometime next year. Too bad they didn't decide to release the whole 20+ disc set with the nice box, but i'm not complaining and glad they decided to release this finally.

Chris Benoit was included in the Smackdown DVD, the Anthologys and the WWE Encyclopedia. I think WWE is fazeing him back in.

To be fair he was shown for less than 5 seconds and was not mentioned by name on the SmackDown DVD. In fact in the TLC III chapter they name the teams in the match as Edge and Christian, The Hardys, Dudleys and the "Tag Team Champions" then they never show a clip of him in the match with the exception of from behind getting the belts and when introducing the teams.
Also WWE said he would be included in Anthology sets back in 2007 and apparently the author of the Encyclopedia said his contributions were so huge it would be ignorant to omit him.

I think it will be a long time before he is featured on any set prominently. In fact he was also briefly shown on the Triple H set, however a whole segment from the Survivor Series 2000 featuring him was removed from the Austin set.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Can anyone tell me if there are any easter eggs on the TNA Lockdwon 2009 DVD, and what they are? I tried googling it, and found nothing, but I know TNA is usually pretty clever about these kinds of things. Thanks.

They probably havent decided what to do with volume 3-4 with the whole pg scenario, not showing blood etc.

Anyhow 87-96 are the ones i wanted most so im still happy.

I've said this before...If they can release a DX dvd with just there 6 months of havoc over 3 discs, They can release a dvd w/title lineage that dates to only 2002.

I'd be shocked if they went all the way back and covered it from the big gold belt era in wcw w/matches. I wish they would, but they most likely won't. Whoever they get to narrate will probably open up the dvd with a 5 minute rundown on how we got to the point when triple H was handed the belt on raw.

Agreed. There are more than enough noteworthy world title matches (where the belt did or didn't change hands) that deserve to be on a special release:

-The first elimination chamber match
-Triple H vs. Goldberg - Unforgiven 2003
-Triple H vs. Goldberg vs. Kane - Armageddon 2003
-Battle Royal for the Vacant Championship - SmackDown, January 2006
-Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker - No Way Out 2006
-The Undertaker vs. Batista - Backlash 2007
-Battle Royal for the Vacant Championship - SmackDown, July 2007
-The Great Khali vs. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio -Unforgiven 2007
-Edge vs. The Undertaker - WrestleMania XXIV/Backlash 2008
-Edge vs. Batista - Night of Champions 2008
-CM Punk wins the world title
-Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels - Ladder Match - No Mercy 2008
-Batista vs. Chris Jericho - Steel Cage Match - RAW, November 2008
-John Cena vs. Edge - Backlash 2008

That seems like a reasonable list to me.

For bargain hunters out there, I found some cheap wrestling dvd's at gohastings with their 30% off sale. With discount, I got the Rocky 3 discer, the Rey 3 discer, the Edge 3 discer, the Eddy 3 discer and the hell in a cell set (all used) for less than 20 bucks (shipping not included).

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I'm glad that the Hogan set will have some rare stuff on it, but if it lacks PPV matches, then that means it won't have his cage match against Flair in '94, which was awesome and hasn't been released on DVD yet, which is a bit disappointing.

Just picked up Unforgiven 1998 for $6.99 on Amazon. I've been looking for this forever and at that price I couldn't believe it!

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

im curious about smackdown matches, since its taped and the show it edited, do you shorten the commercial breaks
ie-during a match with a 3 min commercial break is it edited to maybe 1 or 2 min

because rey/morrison had what i think is the tv match of the year so far, it went 3 segmants, wonder how long the total match clocked in for

This is what I think could be included if it is 2002- 2009. I understand there is hardly anything from TV, but the only other match I can think of is on the Triple H 2007 DVD. I didn't include Randy Orton/Triple H 2004/2005 feud becuase just as the 2009 feud was, it was boring.

Triple H Vs Rob Van Dam - Unforgiven 2002
Triple H Vs Kane - No Mercy 2002
Elimination Chamber Match - Survivor Series 2002
Triple H Vs Booker T - Wretslemania XIX
Triple H Vs Kevin Nash - Judgment Day 2003
Triple H Vs Kevin Nash - Insurrextion 2003
Elimination Chamber 2 - Summerslam 2003
Triple H Vs Goldberg - Unforgiven 2003
Goldberg Vs Triple H Vs Kane - Armageddon 2003
Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels - Royal Rumble 2004
Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels - Taboo Tuesday 2004
Elimination Chamber 3 - New Year's Revolution 2005
Batista Vs Triple H - Backlash 2005
Batista Vs JBL - Great American Bash 2005
Battle Royal - Smackdown! January 2006
Kurt Angle Vs Undertaker - No Way Out 2006
Rey Mysterio Vs King Booker - Great American Bash 2006
King Booker Vs Batista - Summerslam 2006
Undertaker Vs Batista/Undertaker Vs Edge - Smackdown May 2007
Edge Vs Undertaker - Wrestlemania XXIV
Championship Scramble - Unforgiven 2008
Chris Jericho Vs Shawn Michaels - No Mercy 2008
Edge Vs Jeff Hardy/Jeff Hardy Vs CM Punk - Extreme Rules 2009

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

According to the title history section on wwe.com, the WHC debuted in 2002 with HHH:

The World Heavyweight Championship was brought to Raw by then-General Manager Eric Bischoff after WWE Champion Brock Lesnar became exclusive to SmackDown. Bischoff awarded the championship to Triple H, but he had to defend it against his then-best friend, Ric Flair. Triple H was successful and has held the championship on five different occasions. Other holders of this prestigious championship include Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Rey Mysterio and more.

I can't include the link cause i don't have enough posts.

so i'm guessing this set will feature only matches from 2002 on.

A "history of the WCW championship" would be nice, but highly unlikely given it's convulted past.

I'd be curious to see if they ever did a "history of the ECW championship" and included the original ECW, or just the syfy reboot.

You wouldn't be able to include all those matches, especially given that quite a few of them suck:

Triple H Vs Kevin Nash - Judgment Day 2003
Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels - Taboo Tuesday 2004
Batista Vs JBL - Great American Bash 2005
Rey Mysterio Vs King Booker - Great American Bash 2006
King Booker Vs Batista - Summerslam 2006

But the more I think about it, the more I'm seriously thinking that since they specified "world championship," that it would have to be about WWE's title, and not the WCW Championship.

But then again, given how bad WCW (even in its heydey), how many matches could they possibly include, anyway?
