Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI
Nope. They are not region free. In addition, they are all PAL as compared to NTSC for the North America releases. You can still watch them if you have a region free player or one that can be hacked to do so, and can also handle PAL formatted discs- Oppo players are great for this. You'll still notice a difference in picture quality, or rather a difference in framerate, as PAL is around 24 fps instead of the 30 that NTSC uses. The picture has a film-esque look and is just a touch slower, obviously.

Does anyone here know if the Sgt. Slaughter/Iron Shiek boot camp match from '84 has been in any of the past WWE DVD releases? I've been dying to see that match again, and all I can find is a match between the two that is on the "Greatest Wrestlers of the 80's" release, but I believe it is a different match.
OK I've watched the first few minutes, it's not announced nor talked about as a Boot Camp match, and aside from pre match posturing, it seems like a regular 'grudge' match to me.

There's a match from MSG April 23 1984 between the two on the "Legends of Wresting" Sgt Slaughter/Ric Flair dvd, which were WWE 24/7 roundtables w/bonus matches released for low price points at retail. I dont know if it's the match you're looking for (I'll check it out shortly though), but it's a different match than on the 80s dvd, which is from MSG, 5/21/84.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI
Just saw the documentary. I stopped following wrestling very early in this decade, but was so impressed with the "The Rise & Fall Of ECW" that I decided I had to pick this up.
What a letdown it was. I really felt like they totally glazed over the Monday night wars, although I guess you could argue that was addressed in another dvd. I also would've loved to see a bit more on the Russo situation. It was also surprisingly short. Ugh.

I'm just glad to finally see a dvd release with documentaries. I was disappointed that the Edge and Randy Savage dvds were all matches, no bio stories.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI
I'm half way through disc 1, but I think it will be the full match beucase so far all of the moments have been clipped with some introductions by Michael Cole & Matt Striker, but all of the matches have been full with all of the entrances. The only thing is, as usual instead of using the footgae they have during the commercial brake, they just have a black screen for a few seconds

I received the Smackdown Tenth Anniversary set today, haven't watched it yet though. For some reason it's released in the UK now and Sept 15th in the States, but we don't get the Rise And Fall Of WCW until October.

What do you mean by pop ups? In the segents such as a look at "Headcheese", Rock 'n Sock, and Thanksgiving With Smackdown! they have comments by Michael Hayes, Matt Striker, Santino Marella (In Character ), Matt Hardy etc

Picked up Slammiversary 2009 at Best Buy earlier today for 14.99. Street date is 9/1 so if you're looking for it keep your eyes open. They were sold out of the WCW/ECW bundle, but did have about a dozen of the WCW dvd alone for $17.99.
So our upcoming releases are:
TBD: Jeff Hardy
9/1: Tagged Classics: Summerslam 2004/Unforgiven 2004
Tagged Classics: GAB 2004/Vengeance 2004

Survivor Series Anthology Vol. 1
Survivor Series Anthology Vol. 2
11/17: Hulk Hogan Ultimate Anthology (Re-Release? Volume 2? Anyone know?)

It would be more than OK if they owned the ROH library, but CM Punk's WWE Career can bearly take up 1 disc. And with the Hogan DVD, I hope it's a Part 1 DVD of the old Hulkamania tapes, and they could put at least 6 or 7 volumes on each 3 disc set...

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI
I got the WCW DVD this afternoon. The doc was pretty good. Although it did need a lot of work...a few observations:
- Liked the history of it before Watts came in. A lot of the information in there even I didn't know.
- Did not like the fact there is no mention of Ron Simmons being champ. That was a big deal years ago.
- No mention of the Radicals. Total BS even if Vince doesn't like Benoit now.
- As noted before, there was no need to go into great detail about the Monday night wars.
- Wish there was more focus on the cruiserweights when Nitro was in it's prime.
- No mention of War Games and some of the other gimmicky stuff.
- No mention of Sting, but they again that doesn't surprise me.
- Wish there was more info about the New Blood angle.
- DDP got glossed over, I feel he was vital to the rise of WCW.
Overall, it was a good doc, aside from the points I mention. At $17.99 for the set, it is a great deal and I hope they do more. Later I am going to post what DVD's they should do now after watching this set.

Just watched WCW and its a cruel reminder how much of my interest in wrestling died with WCW.
Great doc though, and I was surprised to see Goldberg interviewed.
No mention of Sting was expected, but still stupid.
Forgot about the Halloween Havoc fiasco.
I would have also liked to have seen more of the New Blood.
Also love or hate it with David Arquette there was no mention that WCW was also promoting a movie with that stunt.
I think Jeff Jarret was treated a little harshly. In the final days, him and Booker T were carrying the company the best they could, IMO
And damn I am still a mark for Goldberg
