Chris Jericho

CM Punk
Sting

In Your House events
There's so many DVDs there that I would want to see that if they all came out at the same time, I'd lose my mind. My top choices would be:

Goldberg
Here's what I want to see: vs. Hogan, vs. DDP, vs. Nash, the rematch vs. Nash, first match against Sting, vs. Sid Vicious, vs. Scott Steiner, vs. The Rock. Considering that he was hit or miss, 2 discs of matches would be fine, unless there was a documentary.

Land of the Giants
If some of the recent DVDs are proof, WWE doesn't mind putting out matches with Vader and Yokozuna. I'd love to see Vader vs. Hogan, Yokozuna, Ken Shamrock, Undertaker. I'd love to see more Yokozuna, Sid Vicious, Mabel/Viscera/Big Daddy V, Big Show, Kevin Nash/Diesel. Hell, I'd love to see The Great Khali's last man standing match against The Undertaker.

Best of Wargames
The lesser-known Wargames would be a nice addition: The Hulkamaniacs vs. The Dungeon of Doom, the 8-man match in '98, and Wargames 2000, which had some awesome star power.

Brock Lesnar
I'm curious about this one, but given that he was only in WWE for two years, most of his matches are still widely available on DVD (save for anything before SummerSlam '02), I think they'd have to focus mostly on TV matches to make this worth it.

Best of the Elimination Chamber
I knew I never bought Survivor Series '02 and New Year's Revolution '05 for a reason. I've always wanted to see all the EC matches on DVD, since it is my favorite match type in WWE (yes, more than Hell in a Cell). Even though I have the last four EC matches on DVD, I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

Sting
So much stuff to choose from here. This is an instant 3-disc buy for me.

In Your House events
This is when I watched wrestling the most. This would be a lot like the "Greatest Stars of the 90s" set in that it probably include a lot of HBK, Diesel, Razor Ramon, Bret Hart, Yokozuna, British Bulldog, Owen Hart, Vader, etc. As long as it's mostly stuff from '95-'97, I'm down.

I'm guessing it was random. I received an e-mail from WWE with the subject "WWE Needs Your Help!"

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Some of those suggestions are pretty good especially the In Your House, Best of RAW, Wargames, Clash of Champions and Sting.

I hope they release the In Your House events in full but still good that WWE acknowledges this event and there were many great matches that took place at In Your House.

I hope for the Best of RAW they have release it as 2 disc sets like Best of RAW: 1993, Best of RAW: 1994, etc. and include matches, and segments.

That's a pretty good match list. I certainly like the inclusion of everything NWO on, but the world title match against Scott Hall was bad (even though I did enjoy it), the Mayhem match with Bret Hart was weak, and just about everything WCW did in 2000 was a joke. However, it would be worth it just for the two matches with Hogan, the tag match against Hogan and Bret, and the world title win against DDP. I'm not too familiar with older Sting to have much of a preference.

According to this information from the BBFC the first disc is only 1 hour 54 mins. Surely there was room for 2 or 3 more matches on this disc. The second disc is 3 hours 8 mins and the final disc is 2 hours 49 mins. Also I believe this means that there are no easter eggs on this set; as they are normally listed.

Scooped up "The (No Longer Great, nor American, for that matter) Bash" at Walmart today for $14.96. A few day early buy is always a thrill for me. Now if i can just find Destination X 2009 I'll be content for another few weeks.

You're a Long Islander, right - which store did you find this? I usually am SOL when I go to Middle Island or Centereach.

Although I might just wait a week or two and buy it off of Half.com...

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I'm sure I've posted this before, but in defense of Batista, he's been in quite a few ppv matches that would be worth it on DVD. This isn't the list I'd necessarily want to see, but you could easily include:

-vs. Triple H - WrestleMania 21
-vs. Eddie Guerrero - No Mercy '05
-vs. Undertaker -WrestleMania 23, Backlash '07, Cyber Sunday '07)
-vs. Shawn Michaels - Backlash '08, One Night Stand '08
-vs. John Cena - SummerSlam '08
-vs. Randy Orton - Extreme Rules '09

There's also a few Batista/Edge matches, Batista/CM Punk and a surprisingly watchable Batista/Khali Punjabi Prison match.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

From the Product Description on Amazon.com
"One of WWE s most popular Superstars, Batista is truly a study in contrasts. On one hand, Batista is the smoothest of operators, known for his stylish appearance and laid-back attitude. He has the air and presence of a champion. Exploding with fury in the ring, however, Batista embodies his nickname The Animal. That power has served him well where he has won five world championships. For the first time ever, fans of The Animal can relive his storied career with this 3-DVD set that includes a biography of Batista s life both inside the ring and out. In addition to this revealing look at The Animal, this 3-DVD set will feature dozens of the greatest matches and moments from Batista s career. "

So it looks like the set feature a documentary as well as matches.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

The documentary portion will be the main selling point for this set so i don't see it being a bad release.

WWE has always produced top-notched documentaries so this will likely be no different.

As for matches i'm sure at least 2/3 matches with HHH will be on it, my guess is WM21 and HIAC and atleast 3 matches with Taker which i think should include Last Man Standing from Backlash, Cage match from Smackdown and probably the HIAC or Cyber Sunday match.

Also some of his matches with Edge were pretty good such as One Night Stand 2007, Night of Champions 2007 and probably 2008. Also his tag matches against MNM were fun especially the Cage match from SD where Mark Henry interfered.

There's also this triple threat match Batista had with Finlay & Booker on SD! in the Fall of '06. I remember being pleasantly surprised by it.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I think a 2 Disc set, First Disc being a hopefully good documentray on Batista, and the second disc being extras and matches, would be enough for Batista. Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Sting and Ricky Steamboat deserve 3 disc sets, were as if there is a Randy Orton set, I think it should be 2 Discs of macthes, and should kick off with his WWF debut on Smackdown! from april 2002 against Hardcore Holly, and his first title shot at Undertaker's Undisputed Championship On the May 30 2002 Smackdown. Extras could include his RNN promos.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

You'd have a lot to choose from with an Orton set. My guess would be:

-vs. Shawn Michaels - Unforgiven 2003
-vs. Rob Van Dam - Armageddon 2003
-vs. Rob Van Dam - RAW, January 2004
-vs. Mick Foley - Backlash 2004
-vs. Ric Flair - Taboo Tuesday 2004 (although a big part of me wouldn't be surprised if they skipped his face turn altogether)
-vs. The Undertaker - SummerSlam 2005
-vs. Rey Mysterio (they had good in September '05 on SD and at No Way Out '06)
-vs. Kurt Angle - Vengeance 2006
-vs. Hulk Hogan - SummerSlam 2006
-vs. Triple H - No Mercy 2007
-vs. Shawn Michaels - Survivor Series 2007
-vs. Jeff Hardy - Royal Rumble 2008
-vs. Shane McMahon - No Way Out 2009
-vs. Triple H - RAW, July 2009

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

What really SUCKS for Orton is his 1st title reign will never be put on DVD in the forseeable future. That truely is a shame.

Well, the US tagged classics will have SummerSlam '04 and Unforgiven '04, so SS has the match with Benoit.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I could see them doing a nice little splice job, showing clips of the battle royal he won for #1 contendership, show him selling in the match itself, then celebrating with the belt directly after the match, ending with the segment the next night on Raw when Evolution turned on him. That month alone should have enough footage of him with the belt (and his look at the time) to show him as the youngest World Champ with either a minor mention, or even none at all, of Benoit. Who he beat for it doesn't matter, it's the run they want to get over.
