yesterday listened (and watched) Escape to Witch Mountain and Lilo & Stitch

Escape : again, like 'Return' the commentary is a great reflection from the two leads, although the direction of the commentary sways more to the the director's which isn't bad but a little disjointed at times.

[Fun Fact: Jodi Foster was at one point considered for the role of Tina]

Lilo - very engaging between the two director's, at one point they start doing a goof off on one of the characters lines and mannerisms - you can tell the chemistry working so extrememly well for all involved with the making of the film

[Fun fact: the nearly wordless 'surfing' scene was almost cut from the final cut, but was saved by test screenings proved it to be the most memorable part of the film]

Most of the time they talked about Freaks and Geeks, and how their experience there led to this movie.

Armageddon - outside from the fact that Bay makes it very clear at the end of the commentary that he makes movie in some sort of high school attitude "just to be liked" is no new revelation here. Largely expletive filled, it's still an insightful recollection of an essentially "too many cooks in the kitchen/movie made by committee" production stories - you know the typical run of the mill Hollywood production ;)

Sunrise (1927) by cinematographer John Bailey (A Brief History of Time, Groundhog Day). Excellent insights into the technical details of making the movie, including explanations of the many forced perspective sets (some obvious, some not).

Absolutely, that is a fantastic extra.

A couple of weeks ago I watched The Proposition with Nick Cave and John Hillcoat commentary and it was pretty good. I just wish Nick had said more.

I think tonight I might watch Two-Lane Blacktop with Rudy Wurlitzer commentary.

Dr. Horrible's Sing A Long Blog: Commentary - The Musical !

Maybe the single greatest commentary ever recorded. Just to get the entire cast to literally sing the entire commentary is brilliant enough, but all the inside commentary jokes that all us DVD nerds know, are actually in the opening song lyrics. But the real highlight is Nathan Fillion singing the "I'm better than Neil Patrick Harris" song. rotfl Better than any song in the actual movie itself.

Jurassic Park III - while techy in nature (obviousily), the SFX guys including the late great Stan Winston really deliver a thorough yet entertaining "audio making of" the film. The end credit call list sounds like an unedited Academy Award acceptence speech

Brazil - Gilliam provided a very informative commentary, pointing out several small details/subtle jokes I hadn't noticed before. The girl playing Palin's daughter was Gilliam's then 3-year old daughter. She had such a miserable time on the set the first day that she cut off some of her hair so she wouldn't be able to return the next day, since the footage wouldn't match! Gilliam also has an inspired rant against Siskel's simplistic Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down approach to reviewing, concluding with a breezy "Fuck 'em."

I actually can't remember the last time I listened to a commentary...probably the 10th season of South Park. Those are really easy to listen to since they're only a couple of minutes each episode and are usually funny and interesting. I find I just don't have the time/patience for commentaries anymore, or even special features in general.

Last commentary...hrm....oh it was Slumdog Millionaire! Been a while since I heard a commentary... I liked it. It was informative, not boring at all. Boyle kept the momentum going on it.

Whatever episode is the very first commentary track on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Which I'm pretty sure consisted of Danny DeVito stuffing his face with chips, & then passing out drunk until the end of the commentary.

Return of the Living Dead with Dan O' Bannon and William Stout. Pretty entertaining.

watched the Chris Nolan commentary for Insomnia, arrangened in shooting order. Great idea, can't believe they don't do this more often, on some better films maybe.

Harper's Island pilot commentary with Jeffrey Bell, Ari Schlossbert and Dan Shotz. They gave a lot background info on the show and how the pilot was shot.

Panic Room commentary w/David Fincher. Pretty amusing hearing him predict that 'I don't think Kristen Stewart will ever be on the E! entertaintment channel' knowing what she became, And him complaining too that the girl originally casted in the KS role was very annoying and too girly and didn't seem right for him, knowing that it was probably Hayden Panittiere he was talking about, got a little chuckle from me

I just finished the commentary by Kevin Smith, Scott Mosier & Jason Mewes on Jersey Girl, very informative. I plan to watch the commentary with Smith and Ben Affleck on the same movie later tonight.

I've been listening to a lot of Doctor Who commentaries lately. Invasion Of Time, Time Meddler, The Silurians, Four To Doomsday, are the ones that come to mind. Really funny, a lot of them.
