Blu-ray/DVD Screenshot Comparisons

I found some screenshot comparisons between Blu-ray and DVD using the films Batman, 300 & 2001: a Space Odyssey.

It's not a true comparison because your computer monitor isn't necessarily HD, but it's interesting nevertheless.

You're right, that's not a true comparison. In reality, the differences are far more pronounced, especially on 2001.

And you might want to put a NSFW tag on that first link.

Yep, all the time. Its a great site.

One thing that has interested me is in some of the comparisons, the reviewer will pronounce disk "A" as superior in picture quality to disc "B" when I've thought the opposite to be true, based on the posted images. I guess in some cases its a matter of ones own perception.

Good call, I've never been to that site before.

When I first read it I thought you were trying to forward me to a porn site ... or a Canadian DVD site.

You tricked me. I clicked on it expecting boobs or something. I saw nothing NSFW. :(

I did a translate on the page and they are simply comparing the basic and special editions of those Kubrick discs.

Edit: The review of 2001 http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?n...icle&artid=792 does offer a DVD vs. Blu-Ray comparison, and there are links to other comparisons at the bottom of the page.

Was the point of this thread to show that there's a difference between dvd and hd? I never would have known.

edit:
VVVVV ha ha, even better.

Exactly. They are comparing the first release of The Shining with the SE released a couple of years ago. There is no Blu-ray mentioned there at all.
