Meh, Since i've watched all the episodes, I don't see a reason to buy them. TV shows have never had great replay value to me.

So wait, the network PAID for 13 episodes. The actual 13th may not be the one they originally paid for, but they DID pay for 13 episodes.

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

Basically, the network and the studio had opposing ideas for what constituted the 13 episodes they were contracted for: the network considered the pilot one of the 13 (despite it not being shown in full and "scrapped for parts") since they paid for it, while the studio felt that since it was scrapped, it didn't count, so they were owed (and paid for) one more episode to complete the order. And that's were "Epitaph One" comes in - the studio paid to produce it, but the network did not.

At least, that's how I understand it...

Well, the studio pays to produce it and the network pays a licensing fee. The network ordered thirteen episodes and out of that order, they got twelve. It's interesting that they won't air Epitaph One, but they didn't commission it and are not under any obligation to air it.

Well that is clear as mud. Have we gotten confirmation yet that this will be a complete series release yet?

From a Fox Rep:

"A decision regarding a second season would be announced at the network's Upfront Presentation on May 18."

Everyone will know then.

Do networks usually announce what shows have been cancelled at the Upfronts? I thought they just announced what shows would be on the schedule.

Yeah, that was my understanding as well. I guess if it isnt on next years schedule that means it was cancelled. Which is a stupid way to do it. If it is cancelled, let us know.

But they have to keep promoting the upcoming episodes. If they say it's cancelled now, even less will tune in, losing Fox advertising dollars. Confirming cancellation earlier also doesn't affect the viewers one way or another--the episodes they plan to air will still air, no more will be made either way, and the same number of episodes make it to dvd. Fox has nothing to gain by saying one way or another before the season is over. You also can't buy the dvds yet, anyway, so it makes no financial impact on the viewers at this point.

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

I am enjoying the show, but I doubt I will buy it unless it develops into a long-term, intricate, successful show. It would be nice to see the unaired stuff, but I'm not going to get that unless netflix gets it.

I understand why they havent announced it yet. I still wish they would make an announcement either way. I agree that if they announced it was cancelled that mayeb peopel would stop watching. But I also think that if they announced it was continuing, there viewership may very well go up. as now it is a "safe" show and people may think they wont get burned yet again by tuning in.

I can't imagine viewership would increase that much so late in the season. People who haven't been watching are going to feel they've missed too much. If anything, I'd imagine they'd wait till the Season 2 premiere and/or catch up on Hulu.

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

I was just curious, does anyone know if the blu-ray will have additional special features not included in the SD?

I'm trying to save money in the upcoming months and there is almost a $20 price difference between the two sets (and $30.xx is a lot easier to explain than $45/50.xx

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

I might rent it first. Just to see if I can focus on it more. It was harder to stay attached to this show on the air so maybe just watching all the episodes will make me understand it more. I will probably buy it down the line anyway because of Eliza Dushku.

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

So this is coming back for a second season right? I might end up picking this up, but the pricing seems awfully high for the number of episodes in the season.

Yes. Fox has committed to 13 episodes next season beginning the last week of September.

Wow, that does look like a super price.
I was referring to the high MSRPs. Seems awfully high for only 14 episodes.

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

Does anyone have pictures of the Comic-Con exclusive DVD? I'd like to see what makes it so special compared to the regular set. A picture of the letter that was supposedly lenticular perhaps?

Re: Dollhouse Season 1 07/28/09

Wish there were replacement cases for this set.

Pulling off the dumb stick-on cardboard cover left all sorts of weird (lifted) marks all over my cases. Boo
