Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
I wish these DC animated things had a bit more individual style to them. They all look exactly the same, which I guess is the point, shared universe and all, but they start looking cookie-cutter after awhile.
|
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
The thing is - These AREN'T in a shared universe. Each title was supposed to exist on it's own with it's own particular style. They're really dropping the ball here by keeping them looking like they're part of the Timm-verse.
Maybe that'll change with Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. |
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
if this is as good as "Wonder Woman" i am so getting it.
|
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
I wish Bruce Timm would do commentaries on the Justice League episodes they include.

Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
Nice to see a featurette tying into this summer's Blackest Night event.
Further Details: Warner has announced 1-disc DVD ($19.98), 2-disc DVD ($24.98) and Blu-ray ($29.99) editions of The Green Lantern: First Flight for the 28th July. Extras on the 2-disc edition will include an audio commentary, 2 featurettes ("Behind the Story with Geoff Johns", "Behind the Scenes of Blackest Night DC Superhero Event"), Character Profiles of Sinestro and the Guardians of the Universe, a Duck Dodgers Series Episode The Green Loontern, and 2 bonus cartoons presented by Bruce Timm. The Blu-ray release will include all of the above, plus 5 additional cartoons, and a look at the symbolism of the ring in literary lore. |
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
WOW!! I am so down for the two-discer!! Looks like some awesome special features! I was hoping they would have something on there promoting this summer's Blackest Night storyline. By the way if anyone is interested in GL and are not getting Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps NOW is the time! Best books DC is putting out IMHO!!
The Duck Dodgers "Green Loontern" episode is the mint on the pillow!! Take care all!! |

Didn't they have a Green Lantern figurine packaged with Justice League: The New Frontier? Can't tell from the pic if it's the same figurine, but I remember it looking kind of cheap. :(

Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
The movie is good, but nowhere as good as Wonder Woman.

that sucks. probably on par with "JL: The Final Frontier", which i disliked at first and liked a little more on 2nd viewing. WW was surprisingly really good.
Here's how I would rate the recent Marvel/D.C. animated films: Wonder Woman: A+ Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow: B+ Green Lantern: B Hulk vs Wolverine/Thor: B Justice League: Final Frontier: B Superman Doomsday: B- Ultimate Avengers: C+ Ultimate Avengers 2: C+ The Invincible Iron Man: C Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme: C Batman Gotham Knight: C |

I would call this movie Sinestro instead of Green Lantern: First Flight. It's more of an awesome origin story for Sinestro.

Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
Overall, I think the DC Animated movies, with the exception of Batman: Gotham Knight, have been pretty good. Better than the ones Marvel have been putting out.
Hulk vs Wolverine/Thor: B Justice League: Final Frontier: A- Superman Doomsday: B Ultimate Avengers: C Ultimate Avengers 2: C- The Invincible Iron Man: D Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme: C+ Batman Gotham Knight: F- |
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
1. Justice League: Final Frontier (Own)
2a. Superman Doomsday (Own) 2b. Wonder Woman 3. Ultimate Avengers (Own) Green Lantern (I hope it will be great!!! Loved Mike Grell's GL/GA series in the 70's) WILL BUY ON BR Next were enjoyable, but not great: Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow Hulk vs Wolverine/Thor Ultimate Avengers II The Invincible Iron Man (Own) Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme (Own) Batman Gotham Knight (Own) |
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
Another Green-Ray case, woohoo! :p
I picked up the Blu at Target for just $22.99. Their "exclusive disc" is only with the two-disc DVD and as with the Wonder Woman DVD it was only two more animated episodes -- Justice League's "In Blackest Night" Part 1 & 2. And since I already got that series on disc, I passed on it. |
Re: Animated Green Lantern July 2009
Are the two bonus JL episodes in widescreen? and in anamorphic widescreen?
