I'll be getting it. Although, this is what they should have been doing all along with these releases. I hope that is just a placeholder or mock cover art though, because it looks too cheaply done and isn't uniform like the previous 7 (soon to be 8) Remastered Releases.

Re: New set has the first 6 Peanuts specials for $29.98 - July 7

And now I'll finally buy them. I wasn't willing to buy single or even double-features. I don't need them taking up that much space, and I figured some kind of set was inevitable.
If I were more patient, and had more faith in the studios and distributors, I'd wait for bigger and more comprehensive sets in the future.
But I'll go with this, and then hope for volume 2, etc., in the future.

I haven't picked up any of the Charlie Brown DVDs yet, so I may be checking this out. Thanks for the heads up!

This is dumb how they are packaging the Charlie Brown releases. This new collection adds 2 new cartoons, and they are taking off all the extras of the previously released ones.

So in order to own all the shorts released so far, you would have to double dip.

I would skip out and waiting for a better fuller collection

I can understand all of your responses. People who never bought any of these before are really happy about this, but people who already have most of them are not.

i'll be honest, im like the others in that this is the way it should have been done from the start. Now if Warner would release the other 2 peanuts movies...

I'm tired of double (or more) dipping on these.

This is bullshit. Plain and simple. I've already double-dipped to get the remastered versions with the featurettes and now I have to triple dip to get two new shorts? F that.

Wow, I honestly did not expect something like this to come, I figure we were always going to get the individuals. I guess I'm done getting the individuals, and will just wait for the collections.

They really couldn't put those 10 minute featurettes on here? Come on.

Re: New set has the first 6 Peanuts specials for $29.98 - July 7

Am I missing something? Why don't I remember Charlie Brown's All-Stars and You're In Love Charlie Brown on dvd from Warner before? It seems to me like there are 4 new-to-dvd cartoons on here. The only remastered ones I've bought are the Valentine and Holiday set. If I buy this, I would only be getting two that I already have.

EDIT: Ok, You're In Love Charlie Brown is on the Valentine dvd.

Or the bonus shorts, it would seem (which makes sense, given the "1960s" theme, but still...).

Weren't most of the bonus shorts on the individual releases from the 70s and 80s?

Oh, okay. I'm assuming it should be newly remastered, though.

Yeah, the six included on this set are the only ones that originally aired in the 60's. In case anyone's interested, here's the breakdown by decade (including regular animated shorts, whether originally aired on TV or direct-to-video):
60s: 6
70s: 12
80s: 14
90s: 6
00s: 6

One thing I don't understand about this release, is why is it going to be two discs? The specials have a 150 minute runtime together, and I'm guessing the featurette won't be over 90 minutes long, so I don't see why it wouldn't fit on one dual-layer disc.

Re: New set has the first 6 Peanuts specials for $29.98 - July 7

As someone who has all 7 of the Deluxe Remastered releases thus far, this doesn't really bother me that much even though I do think they should've done something like this all along. As long as they release all of the features and shorts, I won't be complaining.

I already have "You're A Good Man" and "Snoopy Come Home" from previous releases, but I wonder if they will ever be released in this new batch of releases. Same goes for "Race For Your Life"

That's not on a previous disc is it?

Re: New set has the first 6 Peanuts specials for $29.98 - July 7

I hate having to double dip for this, as I already own the holiday collection put out last fall =(

One thing irks me though, it looks like they've crammed it all onto 1-2 discs? Will this reduce the quality much, or is the source so dated it won't matter much?

The specials are like 25-minute each, so putting all of them (150 minutes, aka 2 and a half hours) over two discs is MORE than enough space.
