What are the bestselling DVD's of all time?
 

I was wondering if anyone knows what the bestselling dvds of all time are? I would assume it would be something like Pirates of the Caribbean or Harry Potter 1 or something like that.

I know that Simpsons S1 was the bestselling TV Show on dvd until Chapelles show sold more. Is this still true, or did another show take the top spot.

I think the best selling DVD was Shrek 2, but maybe Dark Knight is now the king.

Finding Nemo and POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl are far and away the Top 2.

Your Top 5, I think, includes Monsters, Inc, POTC: Dead Man's Chest, and (surprisingly) The Notebook.

And I believe Family Guy knocked off Simpsons.

The Matrix was the first DVD to sell over 1 million copies. Is there an official all-time best-selling list somewhere?

I dunno... I just used google : ) nemo seemed to be the most consistent answer... 40 million+ dvds sold...
Personally I woulda guessed one of the LOTR Trilogy or Star Wars original trilogy being up there.

I'd say Pirates series, Star Wars series, Lost television series, Fight Club, Office Space, The Shining..classics...

If it were up to me I would think it would be the Star Wars Trilogy from 2004.


The Godfather Trilogy should be up there but I doubt most people have the patience to watch them because of the length though they are (I and II) the best movies of all time

Everytime I see this come up, there always seems to be a different answer. And how do you meausre? sales to stores, sales to end users, etc? Do you count he many reissues or just the original release. Single disc versions vs. two disc versions? regular vs. limited packaging etc?

IIRC, Finding Nemo has sold around 15 million copies on DVD. TDK is nowhere near that right now. I think that DVD has sold around 7-8 million copies, but it may be less than that.
