Fritz Lang's Man Hunt: 5/19/09

From Classic Flix:
Still on the calender without a solid date are A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) and Stars and Strips Forever (1952) -- but that can't be said for Man Hunt (1941) as Fox has officially has announced a May 19th release date. The Fritz Lang Thriller stars Walter Pidgeon, Joan Bennett, George Sanders, John Carradine and Roddy McDowall. It will retail for $14.98.

Based on the 1939 novel, “Rogue Male,” a British hunter on vacation in the Bavarian Alps, in the forests near Adolf Hitler’s home, gets Hitler in his gun sight, pondering whether or not he should shoot him.

BONUS FEATURES:

* Commentary by Author Patrick McGilligan
* Rogue Male: The Making of Man Hunt
* Restoration Comparison
* Trailer
* Interactive Pressbook
* Still Gallery

Languages: English(Original Language & Subtitled), Spanish(Subtitled & Dubbed)

All. Over. This. Fox can screw over anyone and everyone with their Blu-ray pricing, double-dipping and whatnot as long as they keep the excellent editions of the classics coming like this. And that artwork!

Yeah, that cover is almost Criterion level in it's stylish understatement.

This is only $6.99 from DVD Planet right now, and also part of DD's current 3 for $20 promotion.

Bn.com actually has more fox and mgm titles in their version of the sale. And they provide much better service. With the visa free shipping link and coupon it is same price. Dvdplanet's service isnt what it used to be. Bn.com delivers in a few days. I also got goldwyn follies, song is born and ball of fire in addition to man hunt in separate orders..

Re: Fritz Lang's Man Hunt: 5/19/09

can anyone else confirm the green tinge down the right hand side of the screen for the middle third of the film?

its mentioned in the comments section of dvdbeaver by someone who emailed in and I can see 1 capture (of joan bennett) where you notice it but its not the most accurate representation since in that capture the right hand side is mostly black.

but its quite distracting when the right hand side is not totally black.

We watched this over the holiday weekend... great picture quality and plenty of extra features. I didn't notice the green tinge, but then again I wasn't looking for it. This is definitely a steal at ~$10.

Me neither. No green tint. Lovely film.

noirfan,

any info on this? I take it is just a source defect and not an authoring issue?
