Can you at least tell us what Tim is?

I believe it's that movie where Mel Gibson plays a mentally challenged man. What a stretch.

This is hilarious... back in 99 when DVDs were still generally pricey and there wasn't as many titles my friend bought a 50 DVD lot off Ebay to build his collection. It was a bunch of old (presumably) public domain movies, in low-rent packaging, that we both knew he would never actually watch. For whatever reason Tim always stood out in the pack, and it became a running inside joke.
Eventually 'Tim' became our buzzword for buying a DVD you're never going to actually watch, a game you're never going to actually play, etc. just because it's a bargain. |

"Tim" is Mel Gibson's second film, done the same year he did "Mad Max" - 1979. Both he and Piper Laurie (The Mother from "Carrie") won the Austrailain equivlant of the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Actress for thier performances. I first saw this movie on Cinemax as a young kid, and my sister and i watched it repeatedly. This movie has languished in public domain for years, with quite possibly the worst picture i have ever seen on a DVD. In January, Showtime started showing a brand new letterboxed print, which prompted me to check Amazon, and sure enough, the DVD comes out in April. I tried to post the cover art, but was unable to. Sorry for the confusion.
