Well then it was never a retail disc and "oop" wouldn't apply as it ever only had a single test run.
Having a copy because you work for the company is a completely different thing.

Actually Not true.
I Work for BVHE (Buena Vista Home Entertainment) and last year we were all given DVD Region 2 copies of Song of the South with the intent that Robert Iger was going to allow Disney to release the Film in European countries and surround countries to test the waters to see if there is still Bad Blood with the film. From what I understand there are Groups who are intent to keep the film behind closed doors.
My DVD Copy has Menus, A Bonus Clip of Zip de da do da sung by uncle Remus
and some artwork stills. plus it had some coming attractions for Up! and Snow White

Not a DVD but I finally got my hands on a copy the recalled VHS tape of The Little Mermaid. $0.97 at Goodwill.
If you don't already know why it was recalled, it was because of the cover art. The picture below will explain it all...

Just sold a sealed copy of Land of Silence and Darkness for $102.93 on Amazon. I'm really cleaning up on all of the OOP New Yorker discs.

Not worth a whole lot, but kept their value on secondary market I just picked up Hell Night (anchor bay)and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Don't really like either film, but got both for a song. On a side note, I can't believe how many Paramount titles are now oop.

It's still rare. Remember, only 2,000 made it out before production stopped. Lowest price on Amazon is $99.
I remember when many DVDs had so much value, I could not bear to keep them in my collection. My most incredible resales were $500 each for the first recalled version of Ed Wood (with the movie poster art, not the second recalled version) and the Region 4 of Baby of Macon.

Old OOP DVDs are of real value only to the purchasers who wanted the movie to keep in the first place.
For the rest of the "valuable" OOP DVDs out there, they will never be a good investment, not when its costs so little to re-release an already mastered DVD. And most buyers consider DVDs ephemera, to be watched once or twice, then to move on to the next release.

But the problem I have with fellow collectors is this obsession with pouncing down on OOP DVDs just because they go OOP!
Like you said, they're not exactly a good investment.
If one had no interest in the particular DVD before, well, why does the fact that it went OOP suddenly make it a must have?

I didn't know any Star Wars DVDs went OOP.
Anyway, I'll bet original prequel DVDs will start to disappear from all over once Lucas releases them on BR since I have little doubt that he's going to do the same thing to the PT that he did to the OT with his "Special Editions."

I agree that dvds are now an awful investment. There is just no way to predict when or if the dvd will go back in reprint. I remember those Farscape seasons would fetch well over $100 a season a year ago. Now you can't even get 20 bucks for them. Same thing with Transformers.
If you have a rare OOP dvd worth something, I would recommend selling it asap before it becomes completely worthless.
