The new features on this are all interviews from various programs (i.e. Variety, NPR) and other Q&As. Well, I watched most of them and totaled the time and it comes to over 5:30 hours of interview footage... Most of it is pretty good even if some stories are rehashed.

Dont know how I missed this thread, but since I passed on the original release of this, I will probably get this 2 disc set, and toss the worthless digital copy 3rd disc.

My only problem is when it costs more and the only extra thing about the second disc is a digital copy. At least give me some additional features/material on the second disc. Otherwise, it shouldn't cost more for just the digital copy for which I have no use.

Of course, this is just one man's opinion...

if you don't mind, is there an expiration date on when you can redeem the rebate? and do you have to cut the art work of the new? i only ask because i put my old version in storage in anticipation and it isn't readily handy...

I'm not hatin' the new cover art too much. It's alright. I would have like it better if everything was shifted down a bit. I guess more sky, less dark ground. But I'm still going to probably get this as I don't have the other version yet.

Scott,

If it's anything like the Blu-ray I'm covering, you'll have to send in a Proof of Purchase from both the first and second presentations, along with the cash register receipt for the new edition attached to the form enclosed. Also, not sure if it's the same way with the DVD, but the proof is above the barcode -- thus, you'll have to clip the coverart, as there's no other one available inside. Postmarking must be before July 30th, and the purchase must take place between April 7th and June 30th.

thanks gryf! i actually cut out the whole UPC from the old...that should be fine right? $12.99 isn't such a bad deal with the over 5 hours of extras.

They've given the consumer little outlined areas for the proof of purchases, both the old DVD and the new DVD (two proofs are required, one from each). So you'll have to clip the new coverart as well, once you've gotten a hold of it. Oh, and the slip applies to both the DVD and the Blu-ray.

Wonder if the Region 2 edition of the original version will qualify for this rebate as well....?

Great review Randy. You are very thorough in the important, and often neglected, area of comparing items to former releases.

I think I'll stay happy with my original release, at least until a great BD release comes.

Edit to add: Maybe a rental of disc two.
