Help With DVD Data Side

I just bought Season One of Reaper today of DVD, great show by the way but I have a problem. While I was taking it out of the case to put in the DVD player some light shined on the disc and I noticed some weird waves going through the shiny part of the disc. It wasn't a scratch or anything just like little texture in the shiny part itself. This is the first time I have ever seen it and I was wondering if this was normal or some kind of damage or fault from moisture or heat or something which wold be strange because it was in the store since today when I bought it and it's been laying on my kitchen counter for the other 20 minutes. Thanks!!!

I've noticed the same on quite a few DVDs (including brand new ones). I believe it has to do with the way the discs are pressed. I've never had it cause problems for me.

As long as the disc itself is fine (not warped), you shouldn't worry about it.

I think that Spider is right on this one. I have heard that this is a glue holding the layers of the disc itself together. I personally hardly ever look at the underside of discs, unless there is a problem.

Yes, it's the glue. Nothing to worry about.

Just a followup to my previous post. I have seen this on numerous dvds that play fine. I would think that at this point, while not ideal, seeing this effect is not abnormal.
