Hellraiser III Unrated?

I have a quick question, I know the US Paramount DVD is the R-Rated cut with deleted scenes as ezxtras but I heard the Canadian LGF DVD is the UR cut. Is that true?

Torchur317 01-15-09 01:28 PM

Re: Hellraiser III Unrated?

No,I own the Canadian LG release....
It's the same version as the Paramount Pictures Rated-R cut....
Which I believe had a little more than the original DVD added but it's not the full Uncut one.

LosingMyMind 01-15-09 01:30 PM

Re: Hellraiser III Unrated?

DVDaf says III is uncut in the lament configuration box set. Is that correct?

Torchur317 01-15-09 01:33 PM

Re: Hellraiser III Unrated?

Yeah it's available uncut in the U.K. in that set & in a single release I believe....

Re: Hellraiser III Unrated?

the lament configuration box also have commentary tracks exclusive to II and III, oh and DTS sound as well.

I really need to buy that box while it's available and affordable. I might get it next week.

Also, I've been looking into the 3 disc release of bloodline and have heard nothing but bad things about it. Does anyone have that release?

There is a 3 disc release for just Bloodline? While I thought the movie was a decent entry into the Hellraiser series (far better then a few of the later releases) it really does not need a multi-disc release

I know, right? It's a german set and includes a workprint of the film as well as other extras. If you go on ebay.de and search for monsterbox, theres one for sale right now for 100 euros.

The US one sure didn't take long to go OOP. The cheapest used copy at amazon is around $20.

Re: Hellraiser III Unrated?

The Paramount dvd is not the R rated version despite claiming so on the packaging! The dvd contains the unrated gore footage and the unrated sex scene, all of which are more explicit than in the R rated version. The dvd runs 93 minutes, while the R rated version runs 91 minutes. The old unrated VHS and laserdisc release ran 97 minutes and contained some added character moments/exposition, which is not included on the Paramount dvd. There are two music cue/audio differences in the Paramount dvd as well compared to the R & Unrated versions. Since they used the print LG used in Canada, which already contained the alterations.

Also, unless my laptop was confused. It says the audio bit rate on the dvd is only 96 kbps! Usually 2.0 mixes(mono and stereo) are encoded at 192 kbps at best.

That's a lot of $$$ for a mediocre movie hahaha

I'm curious about that workprint since the director hated the final cut so much.....

There was a lot that got cut out of "Bloodlines."

I've seen photographs of a group of eighteenth century Cenobites, where they're wearing frilly shirts and powdered wigs.

you have to point out though that Kevin Yagher directed this, but something happened and he had his name removed and 'Alan Smithee' was added. I would assume the studio stepped in and did some hacking at the film themselves.

I wonder if Paramount quietly took it out of print when they realized that they issued the wrong version. I didn't realize that this was a R+ release and have yet to open my copy.

From what I've heard around the internet that is basically what happened

Regardless,Paramount version is still not fully uncut....
It's the same print as the LG version from Canada....

My Hellraiser IV monsterbox shipped. Hopefully I'll get it in a few days.

A couple of things I didn't realize 1) there are three covers 2) each cover/box is limited to 222, so there are only 666 monsterboxes in total. Talk about limited.

Do yo have the officially released German version of a bootleg?

I'd love to see a Hellraiser 1-8 UK boxset.

Apparently. I've watched it a few months ago and it wasn't bad.

Late answer but I missed it until the spammer bumped the thread and had his post removed.

Does anyone know if there is a widescreen edition of Hellraiser III around? I can't seem to find one. I read that the "Special Edition" has no special features, AND is FS.

Thanks, don't know how I could've missed it. Now the question is, do the sellers have the proper edition? I've had problems with this before, to the extent that I avoid Amazon Marketplace.

The Man with the Golden Doujinshi 05-09-12 12:50 PM

Re: Hellraiser III Unrated?

Have to contact them and ask. Also, don't think that a seller that does fulfillment by Amazon is any better. Amazon doesn't always ship the same item the seller shipped to them, so you can get the wrong thing or something in a different condition.

I have seen #4 (Bloodline) theatrical and workprint. 2 VERY different movies. It is not just additional scenes... Additional characters and - perhaps more importantly - the timeline of the movie is different. Considering that is what the movie is called, I can understand why Yaeger took his name off of it. The workprint scenes were never finished, and Yaeger wanted to do some more stuff until the studio took it over, sliced-n-diced and re-arranged things and it became an Alan Smithee film. #4 is the only one that I can watch multiple times. haven't seen many post #4 ones so can't comment on those. If there was a high quality finished workprint of #4, I would definitely get it. But doubt I will ever see it.

Then again, I tend to like #3-5 in a series better than the first....I know most people feel differently. To each their own, as they say!!

I've only just discovered Bloodline on the Hellraiser 4-pack blu-ray, and thought it was really good. It was an interesting direction to go in. Did notice the Alan Smithee moniker.

I think #1 was a missed opportunity, I fell asleep during #2 (so there are - what? 4 demons guarding hell which is nothing more than a bunch of dusty rooms? that's okay since there seemed to be only 4 people in hell! zzzzz) and the #3 just seemed silly. CD Man? Camera man? ugh.... haven't seen many post #4 ones so can't comment on those. If there was a high quality finished workprint of #4, I would definitely get it. But doubt I will ever see it.

I ended up watching it shortly after that post and liked it. I also agree with you about the first 3. The first was decent but could have been better. Two seemed like riding the wave. 3 was the worst until Inferno came out.

CD Man was a DJ. It wouldn't have been as cool if he was Record Man, especially since records break easier. Nothing about the Cenobites makes any sense in that one.

Wow - I will never get used how fast people respond to these comments... I edited mine, because I really tend to like #3-5 in a series more than #1. Know that is atypical of a lot of people... On the whole, I think Barker created an incredible mythology that was just never realized - imho- in any of the films. Maybe that is why I like #4 so much.. Even in its cut state, it seemed to me to really embrace a mythology....not totally successful, mind you, but I really liked Angelique and the origin story..

That being said, I do find it strange that #3 is not given the same DVD/BD treatment as the others... the only ones I have seen are full screen versions.. That is nuts, imho, in this day and age....
