Netflix Queue Suggestions for Gift

Hi guys,

For Christmas I got my grandparents a netflix subscription for the year. They don't have a computer and don't really keep up with what movies are out or are coming out, so I'm also in charge of their queue. I'd like to hear some suggestions.

I'm trying to stick around to newish movies, so I don't have to worry about them having seen something before, since they don't like to rewatch movies too often besides the ones the few they own.

So far I've sent them
1) 3:10 to Yuma
2) The Prestige
3) Gone Baby Gone

Which they liked a lot. For the next movie, I was thinking Deja Vu, since it's something a little more energetic than the last few movies.

Next few on the list were Frailty, The Kingdom, Awake (yes it's not good, but I think it's something they'd enjoy), The Illusionist.

They seem to like thrillers. Modern comedy isn't something they are into. If a movie has a twist it definitely adds to the enjoyment for them.

 Those would be a bit mean-spirited coming from their grandson, no?

The Fall
The Changeling (2008)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Visitor

Are they willing to read subtitles? If so, there are a lot of foreign movies out there that they would like.

It's hard to know what to suggest without knowing anything about their tastes. My 71-year old grandmother is addicted to her Netflix account, and one of the things she's really enjoyed is renting older TV shows so she can watch them without commercials and graphics over the screen. You say they only own their favorite movies. You should make a list of those, and then go into Netflix and rate them, and see what it suggests based on that.

If you hate these annoying automatic titles, go to the feedback forum and say so!

Well, your grandparents definitely have more modern taste that my grandparents do, which is good. I've only bought my grandparents two DVDs ever and they are Seabiscuit and To Kill a Mockingbird.

When I think of movies for grandparents I try to think of stuff with minimal sex, swearing, or blood/gore. Some of my favorites that would fall into this category and have a thriller aspect or interesting twist are: The Game, V for Vendetta, The Usual Suspects, Big Fish, I, Robot, The Saint (kind of), Field of Dreams, Minority Report, Gattaca, and Memento.

Dang, now I want to go watch all those movies!

My friends first major job was working on the sound for Shortbus, He tells his mom she's not allowed to watch it, nevermind his grandmother. But, you never know, some old people may really enjoy it.

What about Appaloosa? Westerns always seem to be popular with grandfatherly-type folks.
