Gladiator [Ridley Scott one] way back in the day when it first came out on dvd.
I can remember getting my income tax check in, going to Wal Mart and my first dvd player [Panasonic something or other] and Gladiator.

Been hooked ever since.

'Twas back in 1999, methinks. I was working at Cracker Barrel in those days and waiting tables put a lot of disposable cash in my hands. I decided one night that I had waited long enough for Tombstone to be released on widescreen VHS so I bought myself an RCA DVD player and that movie on DVD. If I recall correctly, I may have also bought Top Gun that night as well.

Back in the Spring of 2000 I burned my tax refund on a $250 Panasonic unit. The same day I picked up The Dark Crystal, and Excalibur at Suncoast.

Early '98 for me... tough to remember that far back. I remember Sphere was 1 of 5 freebies I got by mail. As far as first purchase? I really don't know. I remember getting Wild Things as part of the 3 for $1 deal at 800.com. Out of Sight may have been my first 'full price' purchase at an astounding $15.

Cowboy Bebop was the first DVD(s) I ever got I believe. Either that or The Matrix. I dunno. I'm confused.

The first I ever remember purchasing for myself was Dirty Work. Yes - the one with Norm MacDonald. Isn't that strange?

I remember hanging out at my friend's houst back in Summer '99, and since he was rich, he had a DVD player and we watched The Matrix. I remember the fact that it was in widescreen and had stuff about the movie was so cool, an awesome menu helped, too. I knew that when I bought a DVD player, it would be the first movie I owned.

And it was, and I still have that DVD, nine years later.

It was either Blade or Blade II (I'm pretty sure 2) and Bad Boys (Sean Penn)
