Premium Membership Features Announcement

Would there be a way to stop the avatars from displaying if you don't care to see them? Disabling them entirely for non-members (an optimal solution, from my "free" perspective) or, hell, I'd almost consider paying the fee if it meant being able to get rid of them. I much preferred browsing these forums when there were no images attached to many of the posts.
YOu can disable avs in your user cp section.
I see no avs.

That being said, I think it's pretty obvious (to me anyway) that these "extra premium features" are just rubbish and bullshit, lol. I can't BELIEVE people don't have something better to buy with a 20 dollar bill (10 if you get suckered before Jan. 2!).

Tell me, how do YOU spend the money YOU earn?
Oh, wait.... nevermind. It's really none of my business.

Just as a follow up on this question, DVDTalk will remain family friendly in the premium section. Geoff's site is doing very well and we happily recommend Xcritic.com for adult discussion.
That said please lets us know if there are other features you would like to see as a part of the membership and I will see if we can get them included.

I'd love to know what this bounce of extra revenue is going towards. Some kind of server upgrade, new software, Christmas bonuses? IB, any chance of letting us in on this? (of course the answer is "no", but hey, who knows)

But it's okay if I tip $8 on a $12 meal? How about if I give a homeless person a couple takeout burgers I was going to eat? Or if I spend $300 extra on season baseball tickets because I wanted a little bit better seats?

I am not sure the launch of the premium memberships will change the stock price. However, it will support future development of the site. We are working on '09 releases and as we move through the year I will do my best to keep you updated as to status.

What's the countdown for? To when the membership expires and we have to pay again?
It sounds cool, but I see nothing I'd benefit with at this time.
Now that'd be something I'd consider. Easier access to filth is always good.

Wait! If I knew someone was actually going to read my list I would have tried harder.
Actually, if I wasn't at work I'd search all the premium-related threads, because I know that some good ideas have been brought up. Anyone else?

He said he didn't believe people had better stuff to buy with $10. I was pointing out other stuff one would consider "fluff".
Some get upset when certain members here will buy every single version available of a particular DVD release. As others have said "It's their money, they can do what they want with it."

I think it's a waste of $10 as of right now, but like TomOpus has said, people can throw their money at whatever they'd like. I'm sure I spend my money on some things people think aren't worth it too.

Easy decision for me. I'm going to hold off until they introduce features I would actually use. $10 would be tops regardless though so hopefully they'll introduce coupons every so often to spark interest.
