Create your ultimate DVD box set
This is open to all forms of interpretation. It can be based on released material or stuff that has never seen the light of day. Be practical or outrageous. Heck, if you want to visualize your box art in Photoshop, go for it.
For me, it would be "The Complete 'Batman' TV Series 1966-1968." The DVDs would be housed in a replica of the batmobile. Bonus material would include: running commentary by Adam West and big league movie and comic book people who are fans of the original series; A documentary on the history of Batman and his evolution from comic book to small and big screen; various featurettes on Adam West, DC comics, Bob Kane, Nelson Riddle, Lorenzo Semple Jr., Batgirl, the Villains of Batman; photos of all the trading cards; photos of all the merchandising. Also included in the package would be a CD soundtrack of the music along with classic dialogue and sound effects, a reproduction of the movie poster and full size lobby cards. |
I've always wished for a "Halloween: Ultimate Collection" box set. No, I'm not talking about a box to hold all of the Halloween movies, I'm talking about the definitive Halloween collection, that would include:
Disc 1: Halloween - Theatrical Edition Disc 2: Halloween - Extended TV Edition Disc 3: ALL of the features and documentaries from previous releases here Disc 4: Halloween II - Theatrical Edition Disc 5: Halloween II - Extended TV Edition Disc 6: Features on Halloween II Here is where I get specific. Take out Halloween III. It's not a bad movie on its own, but no one really considers it part ofthe Halloween canon. It makes the fact that the next two movies have numbers in the title look weird. So not only would this collection NOT include Halloween III, but the next two sequels would be retitled, and lose the numers. Disc 7: Halloween: The Return of Michael Myers (features on disc) Disc 8: Halloween: The Revenge of Michael Myers (ditto) Disc 9: Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (theatrical) Disc 10: Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (Producer's Cut) AND Newly edited "definitive" cut Disc 11: Halloween: H20 (with actual features Disc 12 - Halloween: Resurrection (theatrical AND workprint editions, same features as before) Now, I understand that since, like, 10 different studios own the rights to different films, this set is an impossibility, but it sure would be nice. |
I would want all 5 death wishes boxed inside a wooden replica of his gun case from part 3.
|
I would love to see a box set containing multiple 2-disk Criterion type packages for Spike Lee's films.
Jungle Fever, Mo' better Blues, Crooklyn, Clockers, He Got Game, Summer of SAm, Miracle at St. Anna all need elaborate 2-disk sets . And a 14+ disk box set would be awesome. |
The Ultimate Star Wars Collection...hands down.
But for me to bite it would have to include: 01.) The Original Trilogy: Original Theatrical Cuts + Remastered Edits 02.) The Star Wars Holiday Special 03.) Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure + Ewoks: The Battle For Endor 04.) The Prequel Trilogy: Original Theatrical Cuts + Remastered Edits 05.) Star Wars: Droids + Star Wars: Ewoks 06.) The Great Heep (Droids Movie) 07.) Star Wars: Clone Wars 08.) Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Film) + Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Series) 09.) Anything else Lucas decides to tack on to a once great series 10.) Some fan made films, spoofs, and edits (particularly The Phantom Edit) 11.) Soundtracks/Scores (on CD) of the Original Trilogy 12.) Commentaries, Making of Features, Television Specials, Trailers, Promos, etc. Some of the stuff I don't think is worthy of the Star Wars name, but the completionist in me would like a set that encompasses the good and the bad of Star Wars. And when I say the Original Cuts, I mean without what's his name appearing as Obi and with Han shooting first. This set would have to be done after Lucas' death probably, because I have no doubts that he will milk this franchise until the day he dies. |
The Films of Coleman Francis: Three Masterworks
Red Zone Cuba, The Skydivers, and The Beast from Yucca Flats. All new 1080p BluRay editions with commentaries by Sir Christopher Fralying, Marion Keane, John Kricfalusi, and William Friedkin. |

and I always had a problem with the term "Han shooting first" (and variations). You know why? Because in the original version, the way it SHOULD be, Han was the ONLY one who shot! There's no "first" :) |
Blair Box: The films of Linda Blair
Born Innocent Roller Boogie Hell Night Chained Heat Savage Streets Red Heat Savage Island Night Force All with Blair commentaries. Deluxe packaging includes fold-out poster with montage of Blair's poses from Oui. |
The Complete Videos Collection - the 1990s & 2000s Alternative Female version featuring:
Tori Amos; Bjork; PJ Harvey; Siouxsie and the Banshees; Cocteau Twins; Juliana Hatfield; The Breeders; The Pixies; Throwing Muses; Belly; Kristin Hersh; Liz Phair; Mary Lou Lord; The Muffs; Velocity Girl; Veruca Salt; Portishead; Cat Power; Poe; Aimee Mann; Concrete Blonde; Raspuntina; Whale; Letters for Cleo; Eve's Plum; The Primitives; The Cranberries; Heather Nova; Shelleyan Orphan; The Darling Buds; Mazzy Star; This Mortal Coil; His Name Is Alive; and lots, lots more. I know it'd never happen because of different labels and such, but I'd be interested in any of these individually (and I have the few that are already out). |
Bjork most of her DvD's are OOP and The Cranberries there is not enough DvD's of them for my taste because I love The Cranberries & Bjork ALOT.

All kidding aside, I can't think of a boxed set I'd rather have than this. I can think of a few more extras I'd like (profiles of Bill Finger and William Dozier, the inclusion of Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, and surviving actors who played villains in the commentaries, featurettes on the Batmobile and the Batcave), but all in all, that is the package I'd most be interested in buying. The other would be a ginormous boxed set of every Doctor Who story ever. Even the ones that are missing. |

I think it would be bad ass to have all the Terminators in some sort of metal case like the original 2 disc Ultimate Edition on DVD awhile back. Or maybe some sort of endoskeleton face. Or hell, Arnold's face. :p
|
An Australian Website called EzyDVD released the Terminator Trilogy in a Metal Case that has the T-800 on the front.
EDIT: Here's a picture... http://www.ezydvd.com.au/g/i/p/786855.jpg |
Futurama: The Complete Series + 4 movies - in an awesome sturdy box with a brightly drawn character montage and glowing logos & text on top of a glittery foil holo cosmic backdrop
|
I wish we ran the studios. I'd buy most of these sets in a heartbeat!

Oh, and it would all be Blu-Ray of course, and housed in a Death Star replica. |

As a sci-fi fan who hasn't been able to afford Star Trek sets, I'd like to see a complete collection housed in double thinpacks with all the series and movies for a price comparable to other sci-fi series.
Other than that, I'd like a complete series Farscape set with Peacekeeper Wars included (including all the R2 extras.) Preferably, each disc would have at least 4 episodes and the extras from the 4th disc of the Starbust sets would be spread out among the regular discs (I hate popping in a disc just for extras). This whole set could probably fit on half the discs of the current sets and take up less space. Throw in the new comics for good measure as well. |
