Midnight Meat Train ----2/17/09

Didn't play in the theaters around here will probably blind buy. It's a Director's cut which I'm guessing means unrated.

My town was one of the very few that got it. It was a decent flick, but I'm not surprised it didn't get a wide release. A bit predictable, though.

Caught this on FearNet.

Good flick, but the ending killed it for me.

Saw this on Cable the other night, on the Freezone in HD. Wasn't bad. Kinda ridiculous.

Is FearNet palying the unrated version?

Bout time!

I saw it and enjoyed it. For me, horror in 2008 has been weak theatrically and better on direct-to-DVD but MMT was one I had fun with. Probably get the Blu ray.

I saw it -- enjoyed it for what it was. Worth a rental, imo.

It says "TV-MA" so I'm assuming it is.

It's still playing on there btw... for those that wanna view before buying.

I'm sure the fearnet version was the R rated theatrical version. I sampled a few moments and it was the same as the theatrical version I saw. Which is already quite graphic in various sequences.

The first half of this movie was atmospheric, suspensful, and all-around awesome. Around half-way through, when it was apparent that the plot wasn't really going to explain who the killer was (until the last minute, like so many other horror movies), it really started to lag. The characters were just making dumb decisions, it turns into a pseudo-action movie, and the explaination was probably the least amount of writing they could do. I'm still not even sure what happened.

But it was beautifully shot, though, so I'm sure it will look great even on SD.

I caught it on FearNet and liked it a lot. I'll be buying it for sure.

Now when in the hell will we be seeing Trick or Treat?

I saw this on FearNet also. Definitely will buy the DVD but i was expecting it to be out sooner, Nice art though.

It's about time. I really liked this flick, will definitely be picking up the BluRay for this one.

I second that motion. The trailer attached to 300 got me really excited for that one, and then, nothing. WB dropped the ball and it sounds like it might not ever get picked back up, which is a shame.

Awesome! When I was in NYC this summer I kept waiting and waiting and it never came out while I was there, so i'm jazzed about the dvd release!

Compared to the horror atrocities that was released this year (more to come next year yay) MMT was a breath of fresh air.

Necro bump as I made it a Bradley Cooper double-header yesterday with Limitless and Midnight Meat Train.

I was reading some negative reviews and am really surprised that most don't get the whole HP Lovecraft vibe (the ending is typical Lovecraft) and how Clive Barker was basically paying homage to Lovecraft. MMT has some great cinematography and Bibb and Brooke Shields look great. This of course was before Cooper hit it big with The Hangover and was directed by Ryûhei Kitamura who directed 'Versus' which was terrific.

Anyways, Midnight Meat Train rocks.

Another movie with Cooper, "Silver Linings Playbook" shows a poster of "Midnight Meat Train" on a theater marquee in the background, as a little easter egg.

Also surprising is that "Midnight Meat Train" was released in Japan 3 full years after everywhere else, even though it was the director's home country...
