Hellboy II Video Transfer Issue?
Hey, I was watching Hellboy 2 tonight and immediately noticed a green vertical line on the right side of the screen that runs throughout the opening and, thus far, 15-minutes into the movie. To be sure it wasn't my TV, I also checked using my computer and it's present there as well.
To be sure it wasn't just that disc, Universal had sent me the single disc version and yes, the vertical green line (purple in some scenes) was present. I wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this. I've read reviews but it hadn't been mentioned in them, so I wonder if this is a bad batch or something... Here is a screen cap I took: http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3/hellboy2.jpg Edit: I've included another cap: http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...hellboy2-2.jpg |
I remember seeing this, too, last week. My TV picture size happened to be set to "Just Scan" at the time. When I changed it to 16x9, it zoomed in that one little bit and the green line went away.
Weird, though! |
Thing is, I've never encountered this on any DVD before, and I've watched plenty of 1.85 AR movies and never had something like that. Also, I reported the problem to Universal and they could not reproduce it (and apparently nobody else (other than you Jnuke) has seen it...
Just odd that the two copies I have has this issue, lol. |
For me it's player dependable. One of my players always gives a garbled vertical line on the right, while one of my other players doesn't. I display the full 1:1 pixelmapped HDMI frame from both.

Edit: And I just tried it on another computer (so 3 DVD-ROMS) and it's still there. Oh well, guess I'll just have to live with it. I don't like using another picture mode and zooming in as on my TV it does chop some of the picture up, but that green line is just too distracting, lol. |
