DVD Profiler 3.5 Is Out

Just tried to add a DVD & the program said the database file was incompatible with the latest version (was released sometime yesterday):
DVD Profiler 3.5

Check the Release Notes out, looks like they've added some cool features, especially custom collection list view.

Been running the 3.5 Beta for the last month or so and its been pretty good. Just updated to the 1240 final release version and its faster than 3.1 was on my computer. Worth the upgrade.

Same here. Very happy with the new version.

RapidTransit 11-16-08 02:02 PM

just updated. looks good, don't see any immediate differences though

I still wish the online display would be updated with more options and let separate films in box sets be displayed in a collapsable form with their respective box.

Supposedly they're planning a subscription-based version, with new online features as part of it...DVD Profiler Plus.

sracer 11-16-08 04:46 PM

Does DVD Profiler provide an import capability yet?

kms_md 11-16-08 08:36 PM

thanks for the info. will upgrade later tonight.

Thanks for the info.

I've been toying with getting this since DVD Spot went under, but the $30 price tag and lack of mobile features w/o shelling out another $18 is quite a bite. I don't like how it doesn't have a dedicated Loaned view so I can see who's got what. Odd oversight. What's this subscription thing supposed to offer?

jjcool 11-18-08 11:05 AM

I love this program. I went to add soem new stuff last night, and got the popup about a new version. Ignored the popup, and the program started going crazy and crashed. Upgraded, and now it works beautifully. I have noticed this with the last few updates. That the program gets a little buggy.

There is a filter for loaned. So that shouldn't be a problem. And it's not a subscription for the main program. It's a one time purchase that is good for the life of the product. I've not paid anything in years.

Haven't patched mine yet, but when I want to add films on the current version (now previous?), it keeps crashing when it's trying to read the online database - even before the window pops up for me to add new titles. Presumably this issue won't remain if I go ahead and update?

That was my experience. I had the same problems then recalled seeing the update thread on here. I never got anything from them indicating the update was needed/available (which is a little frustrating). Once I downloaded the new version, I could add titles without any problems.

When I went to update the other day, it said something like the downloaded database wasn't for the version I was using, that's how I knew to check for the new one.

That is exactly the problem I posted about earlier in the thread. I have noticed that this tends to happen right when there is an update available. Last couple of updates I remember it happening.

Yep. Happened to me as well. Basically forced me to update so I could add some titles. Nice.

dx23 11-20-08 08:33 PM

I haven't noticed any difference between this and the last version.

I noticed last night that with this new version, when I added a box set a screen popped up asking me if I wanted to add the individual discs that make up the box set. (I was adding Torchwood Season 2)

That's an excellent feature I've been waiting a while for!

I haven't done that yet-how does it work? Does it count the disks making up the set as separate disks in your collection? I like for each title/package to count as one, but I wouldn't mind if it had drilldown capability for the disks within a set.
And if I didn't do it when adding the title initially, can I go back and tell it to do so?

Answered my own question..it appears to add each disk as a separate entry/entry number in your collection. I don't think I like that, it's a little too granular for me.

And I should have tested with something other than a 17disk box set.

You don't have to have the disk numbered, you can number any way you want.

There a new update to 3.5.1 now available.

Popped up for me the other day when I tried to put in the Christmas additions. I figure I better update before it stops working, as is usually the case.

Re: DVD Profiler 3.5 Is Out

Has anyone installed the Mobile Profiler? I got a Moto Q9c with Windows Mobile and was wondering if it works fine in that cell phone.

Not sure if it helps, but I've got it installed on a Samsung Omnia running Windows Mobile 6.1 and it works fine.
