I think that's a fantastic idea. Who knows, it may actually convince them to throw us a few more bones.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume VIII
I have a weird question:
I recently purchased my first HDTV (32 inch) and while WWE looks amazing in HD on television i can't help but feel that all my SD WWE dvd's look like total crap!
I have the Oppo DV-981HD which is considered one of the very best upconverting players out there and while it does really great and impressive job and makes many SD dvd's look amazing, all my WWE dvd's look terrible.
That includes even the newest releases like Armageddon 08 or Survivor Series 08, and all the way back to old catalog best of releases.
The picture just looks dirty, unfocused, grainy as all hell...just plain out sucks!
Doesn't matter how much i tinker with the setting i just can't get a satisfactory image.
Anyone else had that happen to them?
Anyone else doesn't like the look of WWE dvd's on their HDTV's???

regards to the Legends of Wrestling Best Buy set, i found this on a website:
Previous reports of Best Buy having a six-disc version of the WWE Legends DVD are false. Best Buy will have six individual disc versions of the show on sale for $12.99 each, starting on January 27th. These discs will have a discussion as well as a look back at the matches being discussed. [Credit: Wrestlingobserver.com]

Well thats definitely good that the Legends dvds are going to be available seperately (I was wondering why they all had individual UPCs to begin with), but I'm still not spending $78 to buy them all at once.
And it's not like these will actually remain a Best Buy exclusive anyway.

Is it just WWE DVD'S or does it happen with other dvd's as well? Maybe you've got a bad cable. Seems like a long shot, but that's all i can come up with.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume VIII
I would probably buy all of those. One thing I never understood is why there are so few DVDs of people currently on the roster besides legends. Let's take Jericho for example. He may not have been in the business for thirty years but he's been around long enough to have quite a few good matches. And doesn't it make sense to promote people that are actually working for you and making you money? I don't EVER want them to stop putting out DVDs for wrestlers of yesteryear, they really need to be given their due and there's no reason to horde their stuff when there are people out there that want to see it. But I don't think it's unreasonable to want DVDs for the people you see Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights.

Well, just to put in my two cents, I haven't had any problems with my WWE dvd's on my new 26" Toshiba LCD HDTV I got for Christmas. If anything, my dvd's look a lot sharper and clearer and all I am using are the components from my vcr/dvd combo player to the tv.
Have you considered using "Cinema/Movie" mode for picture settings? I didn't like it at first but after doing research on LCD tv's, I found out that is the recommended setting for the tv and after you become use to that setting, it is better than the "Sports/Vivid" setting that bleeds color.
Also, on the older WWE DVD's, are you stretching the picture to full frame or using the standard option because if your using full-frame on the older dvd's, your losing 33% picture quality.
I don't see why you would be having problems though with newer pay-per-view release dvd's like Armageddon since they are enhanced for 16x9 television sets (Starting with WM24).

I don't think it's a bad cable, i guess if it was a bad cable i would get a lousy picture on no matter what i watched.

If the older DVD is 1.33:1 (Full Frame) that's the way i watch it with black bars on the sides as i don't like the stretched look.
Not only are new PPV's 16x9 but i assume that they are also taken from WWE's HD master which is why i'm even more confused by the lousy image i'm getting

OK then, 3 Discs. It's Just I Can't Think Of That Much Actual Good Stuff He Done. He Had A Good Little run in the Upper Mid Card Division In The Mid 80s,
But I Think That He's Main Event Stuff Was Total Bull Crap. I Mean, He And Hogan's Matches Were Quite Boring...

I can think of A lot of Good Smackdown! stuff, if the suspected "Smackdown! 10th Anniversary" DVD set is released. Including, the pilot main event, and the one with Shawn Michaels as special referee. Also When Stone Cold crushed the DX express before Backlash 2000, and how can anyone forget Rhyno gorering Chris Jericho threw the Ovaltron. And, Booker T Vs. Stone Cold in the supermarket, Hollywood Hulk Hogan And His Spring 2002 feuds with
Jericho, Undertaker, Angle And McMahon. And Big Show Getting suplexed Threw The Ring!

Booker T VS Stone Cold in the grocery store was one of the greatest moments ever!!!
I think a SmackDown! 10th Anniversary set this year is a given. The Jericho set would be awesome as I've been wanting one of those forever. However, I'm pretty sure I would be very disappointed with what they put on there. If they made a 10 disc set with his entire WCW run on there, I'd buy it.

-Next week's Best Buy Ad (1/25/09 - 01/31/09) lists the following:-
Buy 2, Save $10:
Offer Available on Select DVDs, CDs & Games
Only Available at Best Buy: Legends of Wrestling: Volume I - VI
Legends Of Wrestling: Volume I / II / III / IV / V / VI DVDs >>>> $12.99 each
Voices: WWE – The Music – Volume IX Deluxe Edition CD >>>> $12.99
Smackdown VS. RAW 2009 PS3 Video Game >>>> $59.99
So if my math is correct, you can get the six volumes for $47.94 after the Buy 2, Save $10 offer. Breaks down to $7.99 for each volume.
I would very much like to see a link for these on their website, tho.
