This sucks....

"Dear Consumer,

Thank you for contacting the LIONSGATE customer Service Department.
>From what I've been told we were unable to make an uncut version of this movie for the release.
The Special Edition will include uncut scenes, but it will be separate
from the movie itself.
We are very excited to be able to share with you the Special Edition and
hope you enjoy the extra features.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and patronage to LIONSGATE films!

If the SE has the same transfer and audio from the previous Paramount DVD then this is not worth the upgrade because of the lack of an uncut version and improved audio/video.

Great news here, let's hope it's true! From Shock Till You Drop:

Bloody Valentine Fans Get the DVD They Want
Source:.comf November 22, 2008

There's been a lot of speculation regarding Lionsgate's upcoming special edition DVD release of the original My Bloody Valentine and the long desired deleted scenes it was coming equipped with. The big question: Will said footage be integrated into the picture or not?

The studio's initial announcement pointed to "no" - the deleted scenes were going to be shuffled into the special features section. .com has learned, however, that yes an uncut version of My Bloody Valentine is coming your way and the producers of the disc are working diligently to put the footage back into the film. And it looks great, says our sources.

Mark you calendars. January 13th is when the DVD hits the street.

If the news is true, I'm happy. But I'm not getting my hopes up just yet to save from potential disappointment.

Excellent news if true. This is one of the few slashers that holds up to repeat viewings.

Makes ya wonder how many other uncut prints of '80's slasher pics Paramount says they "don't have"...

Awesome! Traded in the Paramount DVD a while ago and almost caved in once again to get it-so glad, the uncut film next to my original one-sheet!

A director commentary would be nice, but this still looks good. I noticed the R rating in the lower left hand corner of the ad - I had assumed the re-insertion of deleted gore would make this unrated?

Maybe the theatrical cut is also on the DVD?
